Just a quick announcement that I thought you'd find helpful:

I am pleased to announce that we launched our web site last week at Live Ski Conditions: Mountain crowdsourcing to spread the word about ski and traffic conditions. It's a free site which allows users of our service to inform others of existing snow or traffic conditions at resorts in the United States via Blackberry or standard email.

Let me know what you all think and if you have any other features you'd like to see us offer in the future.

Thanks - Brandon

What if your home resort.... "resort".... isn't on the list? This is a brilliant idea even though ski areas are never biased in their condition reporting .

Thank you all for your questions and comments. We just came up with this idea in the Summer and launched the site/service on Dec. 1. I have not heard of "Tag the Mountain" but it sounds like it might be similar.

As for the resorts that we currently offer, simply go to this page - the Signup page, and view the dropdown menu. Currently, I believe we have 66 in our database.

If you don't see your "favorite" resort, use the contact form on our site or leave it in this thread, and we'll look into adding it for your as soon as we can.

Thanks again for your insights and for checking out the site,

Brandon

Ahh, I see.

This is a great idea. Is there a way you could limit your Signup for a particular resort to a certain date range? That way, you'd only have to signup once, so if you know (e.g.) the weekends you will be skiing at your home mountain, you can put those in, and the weeks you know you are on vacation at a destination resort, you can put those in too, and you don't have to keep going back to unsubscribe to a certain mountain.

I wouldn't want to get a Wednesday report of a traffic jam or a Thursday report of a pow dump if I'm not going up to the local mountain until the following weekend. That would just be annoying.

Similarly, even though I'm going there in February, I wouldn't want to get a January report of a 2 foot powder dump in Jackson Hole while im stuck skiing wind swept boilerplate at Mount Snow.

Great question, and I see your point. At this time, we don't have any plans to offer such date filters. I do want to bring your attention to a setting in the Management area of your resort subscription where you can enable and disable the delivery of messages, similar to a typical Vacation/Autoresponder setting (but without the autoresponse part, ha).

Also, we are hoping that you won't be getting a flood of messages that will overwhelm you and your inbox. We envision that users will exercise some "Netiquette" and only post when and where appropriate.

Thanks for the ideas,

Brandon
