I agree with some of the others that if you're looking for a party close to skiing, you probably won't beat Killington. My initial reaction for you after reading your first post, however, was Jiminy Peak. Some good lodging on the mountain, good terrain for beginners, night skiing and their apres ski is pretty cool too. It's in Mass on the NY border.
