HENNIKER, New Hampshire — Pats Peak announces that it will hold a Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow SEARCH Event Qualifier on Sunday, January 29, 2006.

Now in its third year, the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS Next Snow SEARCH is the only all-mountain, all equipment, snow sports championship for kids. It's not just a competition - style, attitude, and personality are also factors. There is only one class, everyone competes together in the same class – both boys and girls, skiers and snowboarders.

The Pats Peak Next Snow SEARCH Event Qualifier is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 9-13 (born 1992-97). There will be three rounds of events including a NASTAR race, Slopestyle park event & Fun event. Kids can register in advance online at www.patspeak.com or the day of event from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. under the tent. Entry Fee is $15 per person plus a Pats Peak Lift Ticket (or Pats Peak season pass).

One recipient will be chosen by the judges to receive a trip to Vermont's Killington Resort to compete in the Next Snow SEARCH Finals, March 3-5, 2006. Approximately 150 athletes, representing more than 70 North American ski resorts, will be invited to compete for a spot on the "2006 SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS Next Snow Team." Competition will include jumps, bumps, racing, half-pipe and big mountain riding in an all-mountain test of skill.

The Sports Illustrated for Kids Next Snow SEARCH program was created by Jack Turner, founder of Snow Monsters. The event qualifier at Pats Peak is one of over 70 event qualifiers being held at resorts across the United States and Canada. Finalists from the event qualifiers will compete at Killington Resort, March 3-5, 2006. Athletes who have competed in other event qualifiers but were not selected for the trip to Killington, VT can try again at the Pats Peak Event Qualifier.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS, the first sports magazine written for kids ages 8 and up, connects with its readers through their passion for sports. The magazine offers kids the access to athletes and sports information that they want with in-depth reporting, action photography, first-person athlete accounts and other features.
