although i didnt see in a theatre, i think the only movie i've watched in the last 5 years or so worth the price of admission would have to be No Country for Old Men. Hands down the best flick i've seen in a long long time.

edti: actually i'll have to add The Departed.
Agree, completely!

What's annoying, if you have real young kids that require babysitting, is that so many theaters have start times of 8 PM or 10 PM.

I've found that 8 PM is too early, since there's no way to get the kids in bed beforehand, and 10 PM is too late, 'cause, by the time you get home from the movie, it's very late and the day starts up again a few hours later. For me, if I'm going to be that tired, I'd rather go out for dinner or for drinks with friends than to go see a late movie.

So, long story short, I agree that it's hard to find time/motivation to see movies these days....

Exactly! If my wife and I are going to get a sitter for the kids, we'd much rather go out to dinner either ourselves or with a few other couples for dinner + drinks than goto the movies right now. Then again most of the couples we go out with are in the same boat where when they go out, dinner + drinks with friends is more appealing than a movie.

Plus, 8PM - no way could we be there without leaving the sitter with a total disaster situation with the kids and bedtime/dinner/etc. 10PM start - often a little too late if not for the sitter, than often for either my wife or myself.

3 of my hygienists + 2 of their gay male friends just left about 30 minutes ago for drinks and then to go see #3 - It's the 30 something b-day tommorrow for one of them, and 2 of the 3 have tommorrow off - likely I'll be the recipient of some drunk text messages later tonight

I like going to 4:30PM or 5:00PM movies right after work..very empty then..and it puts off my beer consumption a few hours..

I prefer matinees as well. I hate crowds in movie theatres - and matinees are like $3 cheaper. So I usually go before 6PM (or right around 6:45/7:15PM... no 8PM start times here).

That said, I think I've gone to the movies 5 times in the last 3 years.

My parents go to the movies at least twice a week..alot of times to the local artsy fartsy hippie theater. When I go to the movies I usually go with them since they pay...Nothing like a 28 year old going on a date with his mommy and daddy...lol..and they buy the popcorn as well..lol

Yeah...well my little sister is married..at least I don't live at home...and I do my own laundry..lol

So his folks love him and support him and he's a good son who works in the family biz, what's wrong with that? I woulda loved having a family biz to fall into, instead of hustling my broke ass off to get where I'm at. That's life. Fact: lotsa grown kids are in similar set ups, some live at home due to poor income, and 68% of parents with adult kids still "support" them, directly or indirectly in some fashion. Whether it is outright gifting cash, paying for home down payments, car down payments, medical insurance, tuition, etc. Isn't that one of the family's functions?

The official "3 roughly 40 year old hygienists from CT movie review of 'Sex in The City' " as was told to me this AM:

"Any straight guy who sees this movies and likes it is either REALLY pu$$y whipped or just hasn't come out fo the closet yet!"

"Total Chick flick, complete with a c@ck shot too!"

and "It's like porn for chicks without the messy shots at the end"

Well the cash gifts come from my Grandma...but you better believe my parents are going to give me as much money as they spent on my sisters wedding last summer...it's only fair...and then I'm going heli-skiing. Anyway time to call my Mom and see when she's going to buy me more clothes..lol:flame:

Any X-Files fans here? Anyone care that the second movie is coming out shortly? I used to be a huge fan for about 4-5 seasons. Somewhere along the way I lost interest and stopped watching.

I use to be but haven't watched it in years. I liked it right up until Robert Patrick joined the cast the last season. Don't know if I'll see it at the theater but I'll definitely see it.

I used to like X-Files... then it just got stupid. The first movie wasn't bad. I might be interested in the 2nd.... borrowing it from my brother. I don't know if I'd want to pay to see it.
