Skied Sunday for the 1st time since the middle of December when I managed to fracture (very slight with no displacement) my knee. Wanted to wear my skis out during March but I fear I need to get my golf clubs cleaned up. Skiing has really warped my perspective on weather.

Keep the faith. I'm hoping this is just a January thaw in March... :p

Don't let your local weather fool you the mountains still have plenty of snow and in general terms march is the snowiest month. The best skiing is still ahead. I am looking forward to the best skiing conditions yet and skiing through mid april anyways if not longer.

Hope you're right, tree-skier. We went to Pats. I wanted to gradually test the knee and Pats was a good place to do that. But it was really slushy by early afternoon (Sunday) and the base was thin in high traffic areas. I know from PT that one knee is not as strong as the other and I'm not sure I want to challenge it much in heavy spring conditions. I was really nervous about skiing on it. Long story, but I didn't know it was broken till about 3 weeks after it happened -- primary care physician read the X-ray as clear and didn't think there was any other serious damage. After 3 weeks it was feeling pretty good, I tried to ski, and it just collapsed. Do hope to get at least a few days in before the season ends.

Colder weather will return along with more snow. That being said some of the more southern/lower elevation areas aren't long for the season. This morning I woke up to 2 inches of new and snowing like a son of a gun in West Dover at 2000 feet elevation but it was rain in the valley on my way to work and Keene is pretty bare. For the best snow plan to head to higher elevation area's and look at local weather, if it's predicted for 50's and sun it will be mushy but cloudy an 40 will be fine.

Not me. I think next weekend will be a better option.

Depends on the weather. Fortunately I can look out the window and see whats going on. Unfortunately the kids don't like skiing in rain or heavy snow so if either of those happen I can't go.

Skiing in the rain is kind of fun. I did it last season and got to test out my North Face shell. No leaks. The ski pants gave out due to sitting on a wet chair in a couple of hours. There was not a lift line to be seen!

Even though the weather may be frightful, Sunday looks like a better day. Just so you Jeep owners know, it is Jeep Owner's Appreciation day at Jiminy Peak. It is posted on Jiminy's web site under Events. I am not sure if I am still going or not. I have only taken advantage of Jeep day last year at Bromley.

Look at it this way, regardless of the ski conditions / weather , it's free!

My wife and I have decided to hold off our Loon trip until next weekend. Between the weather and this stupid 24 hour bug going around, our desire to ski has gone downhill fast.

What's really coming down is rain since mid-afternoon. Even at 1800' elevation. Snow falling at the Northern 4k summits. As the temp's plummet to below freezing tonight, it should be a dangerous drive out there with black ice. Should be light snow falling all night. Tomorrow morning should see some inches of snow everywhere in the North County. If it returns to rain tomorrow as forecasted it will add to the melt.

Today was a warm day so we went snowshoeing until the mist turned to rain, instead of skiing (mashed potatoes) for a change.

Yet, colder weather Sunday & Monday with good chance of some needed snowfall. Yet it could all change in a minute!

Temp's did not fall below zero overnight in this area and elevation. No snow or rain either. Lot'sa puddles outside. Forecasters predict a high of 48, few showers for today. It's back to shoeing/hiking.

Okay, I'm offically bummin.....really was looking forward to skiing this weekend, but due to the weather, looks like it won't be good. :( Next weekend for sure. I've skied in the rain/fog before, was kinda neat, but makes for heavy, wet conditions.

I forgot to mention there is fog in the area. Visibility is about 500' at 1800' elevation. The fog is much heavier in the valley and on the roads.

I also see on all the weather sites that Monday's snow is no longer forecast.
Can't even ice skate with this weather. Oh well, time to go 'shoeing.

Anybody near Sugarbush/Mad River Glen? What are the conditions like around there? Monday we leave for our 3 night ski/stay trip up there and I'm hoping there will be some snow left! It's all gone here...at least, in my yard it is. I'm so disappointed. Since we can't back out now without having to pay at least half for canceling, and this was the only week we could go b/c I'm back in college & this coming week is spring break, I don't have much choice as to when I can go. I just hope it won't be a waste... :(

I'll answer my own question... I just checked weather.com and it doesnt' look good.... No snow in the next few days other than a possible dusting tonight... Temps in the 30s during the day, but the last day of our trip (and the last day of our ski tickets), it's supposed to be in the 40s and raining. That's what I get for planning a month in advance...

I hope this thaw ends and we get a GOOD dumping of snow...I would love to see all those "winter haters" eat their words! We have to have more snow...I have a wedding to go to at Stowe on the 27th and that would really S#&% if there wasn't any snow for their "on the snow" wedding.

severine - Litchfield County, CT and Central Vermont are two totally different worlds. There's still snow in the Mad River Valley, I'm sure. No worries.

Yeah, I know...but the weather forecast for Warren, VT over the next few days is still pretty disappointing. Hopefully the weather pattern will change and that rain they're predicting on Thursday will turn into snow instead! This is my last chance to ski this year. Next weekend it will be time to strap on the hiking boots and pack again and start up that weekly ritual instead...
