The Yale Murder.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/09/17/yale.student.le/index.html

Hey Mondeo--looks like they arrested the guy in your hometown. Business at the Super 8 will now be off.

I guess one explanation is that the guy thoguht he was being spit on and talked down to and he lashed out. When I was in college, I was really  at how some of my peers felt they could talk down to staff, and the pervasive sense of entitlement that they had. Might be one theory, I don't know. I think it is a bad case. Sucks for her family and the fiancee.

It's a huge story here in the flatlands. I don't understand how someone could do that. I really feel for her family and fiance.

Easy trailboss. In a way, it sounds like you're justifying what he is accused of. I know that's not what you meant, but it was just a weird thing to say.

Daily News had a pic of him from high school - he was a member of the "Asian Awareness Club". Wonder if there's an angle there...

Tragic situation all around. RIP.

I'm betting we'll hear that he was in love with her, stalking her, crime of passion thing. Probably a love affair that he wished for, but never was.

What?

I guess one explanation is that the guy was sick of being spit on and talked down to and he lashed out. When I was in college, I was really  at how some of my peers felt they could talk down to staff, and the pervasive sense of entitlement that they had.

I guess I'm speaking from the perspective of a student, not someone being talked down on. I'm also a bit cynical because in my line of work I had to learn human psychology and what goes through people's minds. My comments were more to reflect that at some institutions there is among some a sense of entitlement that really makes folks who work at schools upset and, well, it pushes some over the edge. Does it justify what he did? No, of course not. But the title of this thread was, "Ok Someone Explain This Case" and I was putting forward a theory. It probably hits too close to home for many on here. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Could just be he's a nutcase.
Wouldn't be entirely surprising if they manage to link him to something else.
Assuming, of course, that he's guilty.

If he's guilty, you just never know. Makes me think of CSI and so many movies out there when the quiet guy ends up being the killer. Some people who seem perfectly normal could have a completely different hidden life backed by mental illness/instability next thing you know--BAM--it reveals itself in horrific ways. :( Sad story. :(

+1. I don't know anything about Lewis, but most certainly mental illness could go a long way in explaining it. It will be interesting to see if anything about his mental history comes out here. Strikes me odd he was living in a hotel.

I'm no investigator, but I suspect the police had several corroborating pieces of evidence, not just DNA that make them certain the evidence would stick.
