Say what you want about Okemo's lack of advanced terrain and grooming it to death but they do have a very nice early season setup. Running the Northstar lift and getting World Cup online is IMHO almost preferred to K's setup as it offers more vertical and a HSQ. If they could get additional routes open from the get go with these new guns it will be even nicer. If the goal is to lap a decent pitched trail (s) early season and get lots of runs in Okemo does well.
We'll likely be there staying at my uncles ski house skiing Saturday of Thanksgiving wknd.

I'm with you 100% on that Xwhaler! Say what you want about Okemo in general. While it may not be the end all be all to some of the AZ crew, it makes A LOT of people happy year in and year out! And in my book if you've got happy, satisfied skiers and riders on the hill, regardless of it's overall challenge compared to some other resorts, that's a GREAT thing for the ski industry as a whole!

Right where I want to be
That is all fine and don't disagree people who like it that way can go there I just don't and rather go to other places. Variety is the why we all don't drive the same kinds of cars and live in the same looking houses.

i wonder if the new capacity will influence their late season plans as well. model after K? blow it early, blow it often, stock pile and stay open late?

O is not known (i believe) for running late into the spring tho I've had some fun days there in Aprils past.

I try to avoid southern Vermont skiing like is a STD due to the crowds and high prices. However, I made an exception for Okemo's opening day mid-week in November last year. It was actually a much better setup than Killington and Sunday River at the same time. There is more vertical than Killington and no need to hike up the stairway to get out, and the vertical is on par with Sunday River. The best part (from my perspective) was that they actually bury a trail and then move on to expand. They were the only ones offering groomed out slopes without the guns blowing in your face!

I'll return this year and am excited to see what they'll do.

You should check out Magic, I hear it is cheap and not crowded.

We use the VT and NH resident rates on Sundays if we have no deals elsewhere! It was $29 last year!

$29 is their after noon rate right? When we are at my uncles place up there we will do the NH Sunday AM solution for $35 which is a nice value. Still maintain that Okemo offers a very nice early season product

They are totally dreaming if they think those snowguns are going to get them open sooner in marginal temps early season.
