They want to make soccermoms laugh when reading the billboards on their way to pick up the kids at the Chuck-e-cheese

Pretty much. Remember, we're not representative of the typical target demographic...

We've got Cannonista weekenders, those soccer moms & dads returning to their childhood stomping grounds and spilling out of their Volvos, Vans and Beemers.

Frankly, Cannon should be playing up the fact that it's Bode's hometown mountain and Okemo should go for Big Blue as an image. On the selfish side, I'm okay with shorter lift lines at Cannon vs Loon or Waterville.

I just AdBlocked out the annoying banner at the top of Cannon's header. Not only was the Cannonista thing completely dumb, but the design of the rolling banner was asinine. I wonder how much the ski area paid a web development firm for that crap job? The fonts are terrible and many of the images are not very good. Besides, rolling image header graphics suck! Jay's is actually okay and done tastefully, I still don't like any animation on web pages that are designed to convey information. Animation takes your eye off the important information for lame brained eye candy (which works well in the right context, FWIW). Got nothing good to say about Cannon this year it seems, LOL.

Is there anything that is preventing from them doing that? Seems like Bretton Woods took all the Cannon "Bode" glory - I mean, with a trail named after him and a complimentary slopeside condo...
I find it really odd that there's more talk of Bode there than at Cannon.
Guess they got the dough to bring him in.

Plenty of talk at Cannon about Bode, they just didn't have the bucks to offer him to be an official voice for the mountain. Can't remember if they still do it, but in the Peabody Lodge they had a Bode board that had articles up detailing how well Bode was doing in races and everything. Not to mention the FSC, Cannon has a strong Junior racing program.

I have not seen any "Bode board"riverc. It's funny to see a thread with the Cannonista comments.I just got done lambsating the marketing guys at Cannon about this stupid ploy.I sat with a long time marketing guy in the bar Saturday and talked about how all the regulars who would supposedly be Cannonistas can't stand this dumb term.First of all,if we were going to come up with a "name" for regular Cannon skiers it would probably be Cannonites. But the whole idea of naming these people is really lame. They did hire some new marketing firm and this junk came from them.So far it looks like business as usual at my beloved Mt.

I had noticed that until recently - maybe I'm wrong - it took 4 or 5 clicks to get to the ski report - bad design!

it has now changed or I'm just alot more attentive. the marketing jingle doesn't work for me either.

cannon has a similar problem in perception as wildcat does - an old school, expert's mountain but in reality there's lots of novice and intermediate terrain.

it used to take 4 or 5 clicks to get the ski report but you could book your flight right on the homepage.
