It is better to keep your mouth closed and have people think you a fool than to open it, and remove all doubt.

I've never been one to follow my own, or anyone else's, advice.

Congrats, DMC.

There are those who talk much and those who say much. One does not necessarily equal the other. ;)

A lot of these derive from Biblical Proverbs:

The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. -Prov 15:8

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. -Prov 15:14

A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. -Prov 18:6 (<---needed that one in 7th grade... invited quite a few beatings.)

A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. -Prov 18:7

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. -Prov 21:23

Like a lame man's legs that hang limp is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. -Prov 26:7 (easy, now...)

Like a thornbush in a drunkard's hand is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. -Prov 26:9 (maybe I should stop...)

And one more for good measure:

"This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.' -Prov 30:20

Man who farts in church, sits in his own pew.

It has nothing to do with this thread but it popped into my mind.

He who knows not, and knows not he knows not, is a fool. Shun him.
He who knows, and knows not he knows, is asleep. Wake him.
He who knows not, and knows he knows not, is a child. Teach him.
He who knows, and knows he knows, is a wise man. Follow him.

-Chinese proverb

"Need more Calgon!"
"Ancient Chinese secret, huh?"
-Another Chinese proverb

Man who stands on toilet is high on pot. (one of my students taught me that one)

Poor DMC, his kudos thread has been hijacked into an outlet of potty humor. :p

I could care less... It's cool..

My Mom grew up in Missouri...

Her Mom used to say some wild stuff...

"Wish in one hand and shti in the other and see which one fills up quicker"

Was my favorite...
