I skied it once about 15 years ago. It was a sweet little area back the. We went there because there was a "wind hold" at Jay and we had no time to waste waiting!

always wanted to check it out. I hear they get a ton of snow, which wouldn't suprise me being so close to Jay, but then I just looked up some info on skitown.com and it said they only average 180 inches a year. Mount Sutton is nearby as well, which is another area I'd love to check out as I hear their glades are fantastic.

Actually, we liked Owl'shead so much, we tried and liked Mt. Sutton the next day. We never did get to ski Jay that trip.

Orford, Owl's Head and Sutton are all fun places to ski that are inexpensive, have good natural snow and interesting terrain. These areas may get less snow than Jay, but they also get less wind than Jay and less r*!n than areas south so conditions stay pretty consistent.

Owls Head is a cool little place in the shadow of Jay Peak...in more ways than one. First, it's quite a drive from VT and one needs to drive by Jay, with its snow, higher vert, and glades, to head to little Owls Head, which is across the border. Haven't been, but have heard it has a lot of good cruisers, some steep stuff, and two or three HSQ's. It's dirt cheap as well.
