Well I am glad I spent the "extra" money to get the Granite Pass .. I have wanted to go there for a number of seasons and I am looking forward to it this season.

One of their concerns was people buying a Crotched pass for cheap money, and going to Mt Snow 10 times for less then the cost of the Nor'Easter pass. I don't think it was anything to do specifically with Attitash, it was the Mt Snow access that killed it.

I had suggested to them to put a limited number of visits on the pass to another area or give several 1/2 price vouchers so I could visit another mountain .. I guess it was too diffcult to do. You can't always get what you want ..

It would have been awesome, but yea, I don't think we can bitch all that much about not getting it. lol

No. Neither does Mount Snow.

Technically they do have lights on the old "mixing bowl" trail (the small little trail between base lodge and the lower parking lot), and a few seasons ago had it set up and lit until about 8PM for kids to use the rail park they had set up on it

Greg, DEFINATLY something to add for the challenges for Mount Snow AND Attitash. :)

Lights and night ski! :)

Nonono. Don't ask.. DEMAND! :spread:

Attitash might be able to be lit up and have it be a feasible operation, especially off the Flying Yankee Quad. The North Conway population base might just be enough to make it work, although with Cranmore lit up too, that might be to much night skiing in one small area for not enough consumers.

Mt Snow just doesn't have the dependedable fulltime population base within a reasonable drive of it to justify an economically viable night skiing operation.

In both cases though, with the installation of all the new fan guns by Peak Resorts, one of the larger hurdles to getting night skiing would be in place already, the electrical lines running up the side of the trail

Well, if we get Snow and Attitash, then you should ask the question. The AZ Challenge needs your questions and participation.

I only skied a Peak Resort once and that was at Crotched Mountain in the days after Christmas since I was blacked out at ASC places. The snow was non-existent in Boston at that time and I was drawn to CM because folks on this board talked about the great snowmaking there. I was not disappointed at all.

Although not all the trails were open, it had enough going to keep me and my friends happy. Lodge facilities were great (cleanest bathrooms in a lodge that I had ever seen) and the rental shop took care of my friend's needs. After the trip, I always recommended the place to folks who were looking for a quick day trip from Boston.

Now that Snow and Attitash are Peak Resorts, I've been hearing nothing but good stuff: more snowmaking, passholder's town meetings, refurbishment of lodges. This is in stark contrast to the stumble that Killington's new owners had when they took over. Let's hope these are signs of great things to come. For now, I have nothing but positive vibes for Peak.

Now, if I can only convince a certain "little monster," perhaps I can be a Granite Pass holder.
