Looking to get my wife photoshop for our digital camera. Right now she is using Picasa, but that is fairly limited to what it can do...can anyone suggest a good Photoshop? nothing too crazy....

Are you wondering about the differences between the full version of Photoshop vs Photoshop Elements?

I think the term "photoshop a pic" is being used so much that some may not realize that Photoshop is a application as opposed to a type of application, which would be photo editing. Skiquattro, there's a lot of good ones out there it just depends on what you need and how much you are willing to spend. Photoshop does a hell of a lot and is considered one of the best, if not the best, however, it goes for about $700

I have been using Paint Shop Pro for over 10 years, works great. You can download a trial version I think for 45 days, it's made by Corel now. I have heard good things about Photoshop Elements as well.

That's the program that I had recommended in my post, should have been more specific. The link for info on it as well as the download is

I tried paint shop when it was put out by Jasc, guess Corel took over the company. It's no Photoshop, but it has a lot of the same functionality and the price difference is big.

That's what I use, psp 5.0, no updates since I bought in 1996. I did try out the Corel 7.0 version a couple of years ago but I didn't want to bother with the learning curve so I stayed with 5.0. With Photoshop unless your way into graphic design or need to do massive image manipilation your spending 500 bucks extra for something you will never need or use. I really use only the basic tools with PSP, anyway.

If you are a student or teacher you should be able to get Photoshop CS-2 at the school bookstore for around $299. That's about half off the regular price I think.

I know there are teachers and students here but I can't remember who they are, well except one.

paint shop pro is generally more than enough photo editing for most people, no need to throw down big bucks for photoshop. i was unaware the software went from jasc to corel. gimp is a good free alternative on the open source tip.
