Same here, i'm o3jeff on that too. Use it every time i'm out now! I have a HTC Evo(Droid) and it does use more battery than normal, but I don't think it's that bad considering the app is running continuously.

Can you run a full day with Phresheez running on your Evo?? I'm likely getting a new phone next week and the Evo is on my list, and one of the constants it seems in the users comments column is complaints about the battery life, and considering that the battery in my current blackberry has about 20 minutes of active usage right now before it's drained :smash: , battery life is very important to me right now!

I'm not a big gadget geek and would never spend time with an app like this. I'd rather have a the memories of a good day followed by a few beers than waste time on a computer worried about my skiing stats.

I honestly spend about 10 seconds with this on the mountain......Take a leak before skiing, turn the app on, put phone in jacket pocket......ski.........end of the day, in the lodge, take phone out, open app; select "exit and stop tracking". You view all the stats and whatnot at home. It's not worth fudging with while you're skiing. My wife and like to view the stats and whatnot back the house hose whilst having a few apres drinks.

When I first got it the battery sucked under normal use, but after reading some sprint forums people tell you what you change in the phone settings to extend the battery(I don't remember what they were now!). The first time I used Phresheez it it sucked the battery down pretty good in about 4 hours, not sure why cause I have done other half days since and it only uses about a quarter the battery. I ran it from 9:30 to 4 the other weekend at Butternut and I still had half the battery left. I love the phone and have had 4G coverage here in CT for the past few months.

On my Droid X, I have not had a problem with Phresheez killing my battery... I've used it for 6/8 hours without the battery dying.

I suspect a larger question of battery life on the ski hill is how hard your phone has to work to keep cell phone coverage.

Agree with the comment above about it not taking anything to futz with on the mountain... It's set it and forget it... I like being able to look back later, see the speeds I hit and where, and get info about how much vert I skied, the distance I covered, etc... not that it matters at all, but I find it interesting.

One thing I do like is that the app can tag photos with the GPS track, so you can play back your track later and see where you took the photos. I do NOT like that it takes photos at a MUCH lower quality than if I take a photo outside of the app.

Get an extended battery. although on a regular battery, seemed to have lasted the entire day with minimal battery.

I am on a Droid Incredible w/ Verizon. the Dinc is notoriously bad at battery life probably due to the stock battery being only 1300 mah. I sprung for a 3500 Mah battery and get 2-3 days of medium usage now.

I just installed the app on my phone. If I remember I'll use it the next time I ski.

Jenness, You need a log in to view.

Question, can you integrate this so that you can find your buddies ?

We usually don't ski the same trails at the same times.
My BB version has a "Friend Finder" feature, but I haven't tried it.

Even though it sucks my battery something wicked I'm digging this application for the blackberry. Curious who else is using it.

For those of you who haven't a clue..........check it out, shit is pretty tight! http://phresheez.com/ :fangun::fangun:
If I'm planning a full 6+ hours on the slopes, I turn off unneeded things like Bluetooth, WiFi. I've not completely killed a battery yet. I had a plan not to take my ipod skiing this year, and just use the MP3 player on my BB, but for a full day session, that won't work, but for short (<4 hours) sessions, I'm good.
