Arrived at Pico just before 9AM under partly sunny skies. By the time I unloaded my car and went into the lodge to boot up, I had begun to snow. The snow didn't stop until I left at 2:30. I'll take a surprise powder day anytime.

I wound up hitting all of the mountain except the Little Pico chair. Coverage was excellent on all the trails I skied, even over in the Outpost. Bronco was the trail of the day for me. Best off the summit was Sunset 71. Prospector to Panhandler (after they dropped the rope once race practice was over) was the winner off the Golden Express chair. The snow fell all day to regularly refresh all trails.

I'm so happy I *rediscovered* Pico last year after not having skied it for 10+ years. This mountain has character!!

i was at Pico saturday. Every year I rediscover Pico (I forget how good it is until I go). That mountain is dripping with character, each trail is so unique and good and the uber long runs off the summit chair are sweet. Glad you got some. Definately a hidden gem.

It's been 20 years since I last skied Pico. I can't recall how challenging the terrain is, though my grey matter suggests it was pretty good. A friend and I got into a debate -- he insists most difficult trails on the mountain are short and not too challenging. What is truth?

Truth is....compared to many other mountains, many of Pico's most challenging trails are shorter. Most of these trails though are what I think of as more "classic" in that they follow the contour of the mountain and aren't extremely wide.

Thanks for the report, haven't been to Pico Peak in a long time as well! Always like the mountain, it really does have some nice terrain. Will consider making a return visit this season!

I skied Killington on Sunday. Until the thunder and lightning screwed up the lifts at 2:00, it was one of the better powder days of the year. I skied the woods all day. What are these monster moguls on solid ice you speak of? I was in boot-top to knee-deep fluff much of the time.
