It had been a while since I was out on a bike. Back to back trips will do that. My schedule finally cleared up yesterday so I could get out and ride!!!!!
Pine Ridge is a work in progress. It is a new area of single track in Waterville maintained by the local NEMBA chapter. This past winter, a local doctor decided to turn the NEMBA project in Augusta into a new cross country ski/ snowmobile network. He absolutely destroyed all the riding in there. :flame: As a result, all the trail construction efforts have been put into this new plot of land.
The trail is still rough. It hasn't been "hardened" yet but I have come across more riders in there then I have in any network in central Maine. (I consider Bradbury to be south) The trails are fun and interesting. Unfortunately, because it is still fairly new, there is no signage...you just have to explore. They have done a great job marking the terrain with pink ribbons.
The trail head is located behind Inland Hospital and parking can be had at the rear of one of their lots. Apparently a few of the doctors ride and are psyched to be a part of the process. I met the treasurer of the local chapter walking with Dr. someone-or-another who is going to invest time and $$ into putting up signs.
Yesterdays ride was exploratory. I didn't log nearly as many miles as I should have, mostly because I was trying to get the lay of the land. The entire area is built around some double track which twists and turns its way though the woods. The fun stuff runs the gamut from flowy trail to some pretty nasty roots, rocks, and TIGHT turns. I have a TON of pictures I will throw up tomorrow when I get back to my computer and can download them. A lot of great riding to be had. I haven't seen everything that is to be had yet.
Photos to come soon!
