except this time it wasn't an A380
Yeah, 767. Still same circumstances with the wing catching the tail of the other.
agreed. I was just speaking about the JFK incident the other day with some ATC controlllers. and they were blaming it on the inexperience ground controllers had with the mega size of the 380. But here's a 76 which has been around for 20 years, and the same thing occurs...
I'm not a pilot, but was the Regional Air jet not far enough onto the runway?
I don't think the regional jet was on a runway - I believe it was an intersecting taxiway. But yes, it should have been further forward
The regional jet had nowhere to go. It was holding short for the runway right where it was supposed to be. This was 100% on the 767 pilot.
The ATC transcript from Boston Ground is: “I think we hit the RJ off of our left with our wing”
Just another bad Boston driver, I guess.![]()
I was referring to the JFK incident...
Actually AF did not have the right of way, the small jet was stopped waiting to be marshalled into the gate. When I'm taxiing and I see a plane stopped and waiting for a gate I will stop unless I'm sure that my wingtip will clear the other aircraft. Also it looks like AF was taxiing too fast that close to the terminal. You taxi at a speed that you will be able to stop if anything obstructs your taxi.
I'll defer to the professional pilots here on that one. 120 hours in Skyhawks and Cherokees does not qualify me to have an informed opinion other than "If you hit it, it's your fault".
