...starts on Thanksgiving, they got some snow up there the other day but it didn't stick around. They made a bunch of trails wider, not so sure I'm happy about that, but they did make a bunch of snowmaking improvements.

I can't wait to go to plattekill. I've been meaning to for like a good year but never got around to it.
Good to see they have upgraded the snowmaking - though I hope they don't use the snowmaking to change the character of the hill.

Which trails did they make wider? Thats a bummer if they messed up some of those nice stashes in between the trails

Can anyone contrast Plattekill to Hunter. Especially in the crowds and challenging terrain department.

Absolutely no crowds, but also not as challenging as Hunter.

Almost never more than 5-10 people in the lift lines. They have some of the steepest runs in the Catskills, bumps on some of them. Blockbuster and Freefall are probably up there with some of Hunter's steepest. GREAT woods, and lots of tight, narrow, twisty, fun trails.

No crowds, never had more than 4-5 people in front of me in a lift line. Doesn't have the vertical that Hunter has, but still some nice terrrain, mostly due to the fact that half the mountain they don't groom. Never tried tree skiing, but looks like it could be interesting.

Damn, those were some quick answers. Also, they have better pricing than other Catskills resorts and to make thing even better, stop by Potter Brothers on the way and get discount tix.

They are the 5th (I believe) best mountain bike place in North America, and that means there are TONS of tree runs and a bunch of fun hidden features (ever hit a wooden ramp jump off a boulder onto another wooden ramp... in the middle of the woods? I didn't think so). Try and find them :).

Plattekill is awesome. They hold off by opening early to have a great base (exception was last year)... they strive on their weekends and you always need to get there early since their dirt road backs up quickly.

And it doesn't get crowded due to the fact that parking is limited. So, when are we getting a Plattekill trip together? :)

No, it's any midweek day, and they don't groom :)... You can rent out the mountain for a midweek day, $2,500 for up to 250 people. How sick would an AZ day be haha.
