Plattekill this Weekend

Thinking of heading up Friday. Will be my first time to any Catskill resort. Any ideas on road conditions coming down from I-88? Looking at the map it seems to make more sense for me to head up I-476 to I-81 to I-88(coming from allentown, pa area), as opposed to heading east to the thruway and doubling back west.
How early should I get there to score the $15 ticket?(not that $30 is a wallet killer, but i'm a new dad and counting every shekel) Seems like it is generally not that crowded. Looking forward to checking another hill off my list. Maybe try to get to Belleayre on my reverse birthday a couple weeks after.

Have you considered taking 17? I've never been to Plattekill that way (from NYC), but I've been curious given how far west it is.

not sure about directions, but try and get up there as early as you can, before first chair. those tickets get snatched up fast

Seems like it is generally not that crowded.

With the overflow from the Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre power outages, last Saturday (TR below) was the most crowded you will ever see Plattekill.

The lots were filled and cars parked a half mile down the access road, and no joke, the longest liftline I encountered all day was 10 people, and the trails were empty. We were trying to figure out how that was physically possible.

And yes, taking Route 17 and getting off at the Roscoe exit is a good idea.

thanks for the reco on 17...bear in mind i'm coming from the south/west...even still, it looks like 81->86/17->30 might be the shot as opposed to taking 88 all the way up to oneota and then doubling back south/east...i'll be rising early...so long as the roads are clear i'm thinking it shouldn't make much more than a 10-15 minute difference either which way i take....excited for a mini-adventure

I grew up about 5-miles from Roxbury and I (Google confirms) wouldn’t take rte 17. Fastest way in my opinion is thruway to Exit 19, route 28 west to Arkville. There is right hand turn (with sign) shortcut in Arkville which will take you over to route 30. Take a right on rte 30 and follow the signs. Door to door from the GWB is about 2 hrs 45 minutes. It sure is a great mtn, have fun and yes, get there early. The locals will grab the $15 tickets real quick.

Also, no knowledge here of any power outage at Windham Mountain last weekend. It sure got busy though.

Don't speed on Rt. 28! They are into increasing the local town coffers up there. You can do like maybe 3-4 MPH over limit, and be careful when it drops down to 45 MPH.

thanks...this is no joke...everyone with NY plates hit the brakes when the speed limit dropped, and I assumed it was because of the aggressive local constabulary and did the same
