Date(s) Skied: 2/25/2012

Resort or Ski Area: Bruce Trail/Stowe sidecountry

Conditions: 18" plus of powder and still nuking throughout the day

Trip Report: "Heaven comes to he who waits." This is the same trail I did a week earlier (see my TR from 2/20/2012). However, the layer of almost two feet of new snow transformed it. There were probably only three others who had gone down before me that day. The snow came over my knees. It's so much fun to ski in snow so deep, your tips get buried. Even when I jumped off stuff, the landing was silent. It was that deep. I was swift, silent and deep.

Enjoy:

The original plan was to cut over to the Overland Trail to the Underhill Trail and a ski down the Steeple Trail. I missed the Overland so the plan went out the door. Hiked up the South Road instead then turned around. Good untracked pow goodness up top but the weight of the snow in the low angled road down low made it a slog getting out. It's all good though

Funny postscript: As I was silently gliding down the Bruce, I saw the only other person ahead of me who was hunched over a distance away. I yelled to warn the person that I was coming. Next thing I knew that person was getting up -- and raising undies. She said that she wasn't expecting anyone to come down the Bruce.:) Backcountry lesson no. 1: Never ever go to the bathroom on the trail. Lesson no. 2: Don't think you'll never see another person out there.

Was she good looking?
And could she rip?

I think she was alright -- in a backcountry sort of way. Her hood hid half her face because she was too embarassed to look at me. Rip? I'm sure she let something rip but, as for the skiing, she was immobile for the most part. I almost fell over my skis when I saw a full moon rising in front of me.

Nice job. You've been hitting it a Stowe lately!

I got a free bus trip because of all the ski trips I've been putting together. When they told me that they were comp-ing me a trip I decided to go for the brass ring. Looks like I timed it perfectly too.
