AFAIK, I think Magazines are offered cheap because it's paid for by advertisers.

One of many advertising-supported industries where if you're not paying for the product, you are the product.

If you want kick-ass ski photography and ski writing, check out The Ski Journal. The subscription isn't cheap, but that's because you are the customer, not the product (and it's a quality product).

I have boxed sets from ‘82/‘83 on thru ‘87 or so.
Some of the best photography out there- all film then too.
Great writing /trip reports that expanded the reader’s experience.
