The town was speaking with other potential partners in the purchase of Powder Ridge, but it was not clear this was because Switzgable had backed out of the deal.

“We are just covering all our bases,” Lowry explained.

What a friggin' disaster this whole issue is. Its nearly impossible to assign blame anymore as it seems that everyone involved has dropped the ball or screwed-up at some point. This quote makes it look like the town isn't wholly committed to striking the deal with Switzgable, and is still flirting with others.

Jeebus! Put-up or Shut-up people! :uzi:

it's a damn shame this guy won't go away and let some people who actually like running a ski area get in there. That's really all I should say at this point...

I still stongly feel that for Powder Ridge to have a chance, the real folks that need to get involved is the Lyman family who owns Lyman Orchards and its farming and golf mecca just over the ridge to the SE of Powder Ridge. They already know how to market to the masses to get large numbers of folks into the area from Spring through late Fall, and I bet that they could do a decent job of getting folks there in the winter(the cross marketing ties they already have with Big Y supermarkets could definately be of use too). Plus the Lyman family knows how to work with the Town of Middlefield, which is obviosuly going to be a factor to some extent in this situation.
