Date(s) Skied: March 17, 2009
Resort or Ski Area: Ragged
Conditions: Spring conditions
Trip Report: Ragged had lift tickets for ten bucks today, an offer I could not refuse. Got to the mountain at about 10:30 and started skiing off the six pack. This was my second time to Ragged, however the other time was a few years ago early season when they only had a couple runs open. Started on the groomers such as exhibition, ridge, chute and easy winder. All the groomers were excellent today with perfect soft spring snow. Then tried some ungroomed trais such as birches, sweepstakes, upper crew cut, and reggae glades. Initially these trails were a little firm but by the afternoon they softened up with nice soft moguls.
After about ten runs or so on the six pack I headed over to spear mtn after lunch. That spear triple takes forever to get up the mtn. Going up I noticed some entrances to the glades in the ravine area. Did about five runs in the woods in the ravine area. The glades were getting a little thin but still had enough cover to be a lot of fun. Did a run down each of the other trails on spear and then headed back over to the six pack to finish the day.
Overall this was a great day with the sun shinning, warm temps, and smooth spring snow. For ten bucks this could not be beat. I really liked Ragged with its relaxed vibe. The glades are a lot of fun, and the groomers are fast and smooth. Also they have some classic new england ungroomed trails. Thanks Ragged I will definitely be back hopefully more often next year.
