Friday night at Hampton Beach was the 10 year anniversary of the band. This was a hot show. Row Jimmy and Deal were the high points of 1st set. Bob Making sure to play to the crowd with (been playing 10 good solid years) He had a bit of start up trouble with Ramble on Rose. 2nd set Help slip Franlkins, Dear Prudence were all first class. I liked Bob presentation of Franlklins very hard to explain, but much different than Phil's version. This was the better of the two nights. GA show no opening band.

Sat night. Ruby hitched me up well 3rd row in Boston mike up on Bob. Assembly of Dust opened show just fabulous. This band is going places. IMO. Bob Started with the Muscic never stopped nice opening Jam. Silvio was the high point of 1st set. Head Band ( Rob Barraco) joined in. There really was no second set played straight through for 2 hours no set break. He seemed annoyed. Went to Jay and seemed to ask what was next early and Jay Said She said, She Said so there is came. He's gone was very nice. Finished with One More Sat night, which was not a suprise to anyone. Great 2 nights really thought the 1st night was fantastic Sat night was average.

Nice! I love how everyone calls Rob "Headband." I used to see the Zen Tricksters a lot in college and he always wore that headband too. If I make it up to K-Mart for the meetup, I expect to hear some dead at the tailgate party!

Cool... When RobB got tossed from the Dead lineup I was pretty pissed... He's a great player and has a great voice...

I always heard it was Bobbys doing... Glad he's up there with them...

I like Rob I really like his vocals. I think it came down to Jimmy and Warren coming from Phil's side and then it was a numbers game and I don't think Bob wanted to share any more Voacals than what he did with Warren. My version of stating the obvious. They really did not need two keys, plus Warren I figure cost a big nickle.

Robs vocals would've made the Dead tour last summer so much better... IMHO...

I agree, I think the only song he Sung was Here Comes Sunshine in Saratoga. I could be wrong, but I think that was all I remember seeing.

A friend of mine maintains that dead coverbands such as the Tricksters and DSO are much more talented and play a better show than the Grateful Dead itself. I don't necessarily agree with him, but it certainly stirs things up with "the Critters" when it comes up. I don't recall Here Comes Sunshine at the SPAC this summer. Was it the 04 summer tour your speaking of?

It opened the show it was the 03 tour oops. 04 no Headband on tour yup I'm confused. The joke seemed to be no good weather until that point and the Summer weather was due to start that day. I like Phil and Friends better than the Dead, Rat Dog, or anything else. DSO is nice, but I like the old PLQ

Yes in deed... So much more experimental and crazy... The things I like about the Grateful Dead.. Jerry lives through Phil..

I agree that DSO plays a better Dead set then the current Dead... New Dead just doesnt do it for me... Seems a parody unto itself...

I hate to say it, but I agree - the new Dead sounds like a cover band of the original. And Bobby's voice has gone to hell in the last 10-15 years, and I don't like the sound of Phil's new bass, and Joan Osbourne is fine, but she really makes them sound like a cover band, and they use too much keyboard to cover their mistakes, wah, wah, wah, wah.....

Truth is, I'd love to go see them for old time's sake, but I prefer any recordings from 1969-1977.

DMC, I agree Phil has the Jerry feel. The 1st few Phil shows I saw made me think of JGB shows I saw in the 80's. No not the Guitar work, but the presentation. Every song had a Jerry feel.

No problem with Bob's voice. The concerns I have had... which could start another thread is his handling of Jerry tunes.
Bob has been great when I have seen him in the last 2 tours. He had a bit of a glazed look on Sat again.
His Voice was pure and emotional as ever. His band is going in the right direction. I just hope he can control his personal demons. Who am I to judge?
I'm glad he sings (some) of the Jerry stuff, cause I would not hear it otherwise. I'm Concerned he may need to practice the lines he never sang though.

To be fair I'm from the Phil side strong. I don't take Vacation time to See Bob and these days I only go when its easy. I still enjoy going though more over the last few years. His new bass player Robyn is a great addition. Not really new anymore.
