Ok, last "Rate the Season" post I put up was criticized for a number of reasons:

  • Poll was posted too early - Well season may not be over for some, but what is left shouldn’t make much difference in the rating.
  • Rating system wasn’t perfect – This time we have a rating of 1-5 stars, 1 for worst, 5 for best.
My take or “Reasons to be Cheerful, Part Duex”:

  • 46 days skiing beat old record of 44. Still have at least 2 to go.
  • 17 Powdays (7 of those in Utah)
  • 15 Mountains (* 6 new ones):
Alta
* Brighton
* Burke
Hunter
Killington
* Mad River Glen
Mt.Snow
Pico
*PowderMountain
*Snowbasin
Snowbird
Solitude
Stowe
Sugarbush
*SundayRiver

  • 2 New pairs of skis 1 pair for me 1 pair for wife
  • Skied in mid-winter conditions up until last weekend and 70-80 degree weather this weekend.
  • Met a lot of AZers and some SundayRiver folks.
Definite 5 stars and a personal best for me :)

3 stars. I had a lot of fun racing at Wachusett this season and had some good ski days. But didn't get up north much and really missed out on all the April snow due to family obligations and the flu. :-x

Five stars all the way this season. First of all, got to 20 days, which doesn't seem like a lot, but considering they are 20 full VT or ME days, it was a lot. If I had chose to ski at mountains around me (catskills) I'm sure I could have clocked several more days, but....
Second of all, tons of powder days...at least 6 or 7 days, 4 of them coming in APRIL (unheard of!!!). And finally, I visited Sunday River for the first time this season. 20 days is my all time best since I gave up skiing new york and moved onto Vermont.

I cant give the season 5 as the beginning was freaking awful. Go back and look at the threads here on the board and see what you yourself wrote, itll suprise you.

That being said, from Vday on (and some could argue a few weeks before with sustained snowmaking temps) this season was about as good as you can get. If it had a decent start it could have been epic. Imagine how much snow there would be if wed gotten some decent December early January snows. For this reason I give it 4 stars, and the best season in the last 4 or 5 years or so.

Edit: and Im a dumass and hit the 5 star option instead of the 4....whatever.

5 Stars for me. My personal best in terms of both quantity (35 days), quality, and overall fun factor. A bit sad it's over for me, but very content.

The way I look at it is we lost January but we gained April. Last weekend I was skiing Wildcat at 100%, with the best snow cover I can remember.

Okay:

This season was effectively just pushed forward by 4 weeks. A late start only really sucks if we had an early or normal ending. The only negative I can see about the late start is that I wouldv've saved some of the vacation time I took in December for March and April, but hey hindsight is 20:20...

I gave it a 4 cause Nov. - the middle of Jan. was very fustrating.

Yeah, but you got April instead. How often is a season consistently good from late November straight through March anyway? We had a bit of a warm-up at the end of March, but really no thaws other than that once we got going. I'd rather have 3 months of consistent cold and/or snow rather than one month of cold, one month of warm, and then one month of cold....

4 stars. Injury kept me from skiing until mid-January. Outstanding conditions with plenty of powder through the first weekend in April. Only regret is family obligations prevented getting out the last two weekends

I said 3. A couple more days out in March/April and I'd have gone for 4. I had some very fun days, but my total is a little low to give it a higher rating.

probably still a little early. i'm holding out hope that k will stay open an additional weekend ;-)

anyway i give the season 4+ stars. probably more pow days than i can remember and obviously one of the greatest marchs and aprils, but that doesn't make a 5 star season (for me anyway). though i earned turns in october, i'm still trying to get over killington shortening their season and no longer doing october openings. t-giving was the latest opening in about 40 yrs. while i had some good early days, a number were stinkers to mediocre. as everyone knows, the season didn't really kick into gear until after mlk.

the late snow this year reminded me a bit of 00-01 with the awesome march. but 96-97 might have had the greatest spring of all. that year killington was closed only 3 1/2 months before reopening in october - a far cry from this year's 6 1/2 month off-season. the previous year 95-96 was also pretty good as was 92-93 ...

very good to amazing season ... best - probably not.

Late start, didn't get anywhere interesting, season ending injury 3 days before it really began.

The only reason why it didn't get 0 stars (other than the fact that Andy didn't include that option ;-) ) was because I was at least able to meet a few AZers. So I got that going for me...

it is from difficult to impossible to rate this season for me because I have nothing to compare to. This is my first FULL season skiing. regretfully it was not much Snow in December and one more stressful time in beginning of January when temperatures was around 60's because we scheduled family ski vacation in October for 3-rd the week of January in North Conway area. Lucky for me temperature went down right in time:snow: and it was great 7 days of skiing where temperature at Attitash went around zero on "founders day" .... otherwise it was great season

I don't rate them. Glad I got some extra days at the end of the season. Every year is good. Can't go wrong from November to May doing stuff together as a faimily. Emotionally it was awesome cause I'm making the move to the river, but thats really not related to the season.

3 stars

3 stars for me. It was my first year back into skiing after a 15 year break. I had an all4one pass, and both of my kids have progressed to a point where they can ski most blue terrain. The December-Feb 14th stretch was just too depressing to give the season more than 3 stars, although it was pretty sweet nonetheless. I was amazed at the job the snowmakers did at Mt Snow and thouroughly enjoyed the natural snow that came after valentines day. Also I suffered a mild sprain of my MCL in early march that kept me off skis for 3 weeks in the peak of the season:-x . Altogether I skiied 24 times, which is pretty incredible given the slow start to the season and the injury. I'm lucky to live close to a mountain so I was able to go many times for 2-3 hours at a shot.

CANT WAIT FOR NOVEMBER!!!:spread: :snow: :lol:
