Copied this from my TR on VFTT Since Redington Reports tend to be few & far between.
Date Hiked: 08-17-2005
Distance: Someone told me tem niles, maybe from the steel bridge lower on CVR but from the last turn out I'd say somewhere in the 7.5 - 9 mile range RT
Conditions: Parked at clearing/fork beyond AT crossing. Mohamed's's description on his website right on, next bridge on CVR is impassable to cars, once you are walking rocky eroded logging roads each junction on the way to Redington beyond CVR has an arrow on ground with sticks & a cairn
Special Required Equipment: Sunglasses & sunscreen as roads are wide open to full day sun, good sense of direction, printout of Mohamed's trail description.
Comments: A couple was coming down CVR that did not make it up, too many side paths & logging roads. The AMC directions (I think from their website or a Chapter's website) talked more about SAPPI owning the land & respecting Private Property (good things) but not enough for route finding. Mohamed's directions were great. One thing that is no longer accurate is comment on "heavy flagging" which is no longer there, it is gone but route was pretty clear.
Lots of logging roads & old/recent clearcuts in whole bowl area. Roads are laid out in such a manner it is pretty easy to imagine a big condo subdivision one day going in for Sugarloaf skiers, sadly All the logging leaves wide trails & low trees so the views approaching Redington & of Sugarloaf & Abraham are wonderful.
Now have 92 of 115 done & 67 (I had finished New England prior to needing Redington & did Spaulding when I did Sugarloaf & Abraham.) The last 23 are all in the ADK's maybe I'll get back there late this fall.
