I think this might be my first post after a long time lurking, but for anyone with knowledge of mounting Fritchis:

I had to pull my binding and send it off for warranty repair, and now that i have it back, what should I do to remount it on my ski? The holes are already drilled, so should I just get some epoxy, put it in the holes, and screw it in? Should I skip the epoxy?

thanks,
Greg

Just a little wood glue should do the trick and hand tighten the screws so you don't strip the thread.

Don't use epoxy if the ski is foam core, the two can react and eat away your foam during the hardening. I don't see any reason not to use epoxy over wood glue if it is a wood core ski, however, I'd think it'd bond better to any layers of glass and metal than wood glue would, and give you a stronger remount. It would just be more inconvenient than wood glue.

Stick with wood glue, you may want/need to take it off again. Wood glue is what techs use when mounting the binding in the first place. That was the case back when I was mounting bindings, some of the newer alpine set-ups might be different, but the Fritschi looks pretty straight forward.

I use wood glue when I initially mount bindings as well, but just as a moisture barrier, not for strength.

I only suggested epoxy (again, not for foam core) because you could fill, harden and redrill with epoxy and I see it being much stronger than either filling and redrilling with wood glue or just trying to rethread with wet wood glue. Personally, I don't know as though I'd trust it either way, since when you mount a binding you're self tapping the threads in a material that just wasn't meant to be rethreaded. I'd definitely make sure theres a metal plate under the binding mount in the ski before remounting in the same position, that's for damn sure.
