I haven't riden the speedy pig, but it does end lower. I believe the reason was to reduce wind holds

I always liked hitting Big Spruce the last hour of the day..now with the transfer lift and high speed quads on lower and upper spruce..I go over to Sunny Spruce more often..there's a little more traffic over there..like one out of 5 chairs filled on Big Spruce instead of one out of 20 chairs..Main Street was totally regraded but some classic sections remain..Smugglers, Sterling and Whirlaway are still the same classics..

i have done the stuff down into chez notch but that is the obvious stuff i could see from the mani side. i just never really explored the way i did on the mansfield side. problem is now when i go up its for like two days at a time and keep finding untracked in the woods over on the mansfield side so i just go over at the end of the day and do a few crusiers till my knees are all shakey. this year i would like to do 7 days straight so i have the time.

some people will never learn.

lol..Spruce opens too late in the day..I think 9AM..

9AM was just the right time for me. I managed a bar in town. My schedule was essentially work from 4:30 until 11:30, hit the bar until 2, bed at 3 at the mountain from 9 until 2:00, nap from 2:30-3:30, back to work at 4:30 repeat

tis da life of a ski bum. what days did you get off?

I had a mid-week ski bum pass, back then it was $250. It was blacked out Christmas week and February vacation week, so during those times I'd work 9 days straight nights and pick up breakfast shifts every morning and bank what I could. The rest of the season, I'd work Tuesday through Saturday nights have Sunday and Monday nights off and I'd work breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning. I'd be at the mountain first thing Monday and Tuesday morning, Wednesday through Friday at 9.

Then I would be lucky to get work three nights a week late March through late May.....and starve. Summer would return to the same schedule as winter. I ski bummed in Stowe two years, once as a college drop out during the 95-96 season......second best winter of my life, but humbling enough that I returned to college the following fall realizing how important a degree was and that if I had one, I could ski bum in style. The best winter of my life was 2000-2001 when I figured I had a degree and could finally ski bum and live high on the hog. not true. fantastic time, but still essentially starved in the off season.

I miss skiing 80 days a year, but don't miss the struggle; glad I left. I have a number of friends in town still doing the yo yo life and they're the happiest people on earth during good snow periods, but are older and quite bitter at having to struggle the rest of the time doing a dead end job, have very little hope for retirement and in some cases struggle with severe alcohol and drug problems. Because of this reality, I'm glad I left, even though I'm only skiing 20 days a year now.....and working towards 25 this year, 30 the next and 35 the next.....etc. Like yourself, I'd rather go back to Vermont with money than try and make money there.

so true man. the funny thing is i dont think my degrees helped me in the way most would think. i never worked in a field that was directly related to what i went to school for. except my bfa. which i used for graphic design. most of the stuff i use in day to day work is stuff that i tought my self with the knowledge that i gain from going to school. plus i never really new where i would end up i just went along for the ride.

but you are absolutly right i will end up moving back once i have made anough money so i can really enjoy my time there. it is something i think about everyday. at least i know what i am working twoards. its funny how much i want to go back to the place. some of the best times of my life where spent in the area around mansfield. i also think it would be a great place to raise a family one day. i am going to be an older dad but its what makes sense to me.

Rest assured that Trailboss Realty is NOT involved in these shaninigans. In fact, we are representing a very important client right now in the sale of this property:

That's right, you the American people.

So folks, do your patriotic duty and pony up the $$$ for this fine property. Lines are open for your bids....
