Not officially yet, but then no assets have been officially put on the block. Essentially, though, all of AIG is for sale in one way or another.

Aircraft leasing division is what people have been speculating about selling first. Supposedly worth around $50 billion.

As for Stowe operating normally this season, at this time I'd say yes. Day-to-day operations appear to be continuing as usual in everything else...

Update: heard on VPR that a sale of SMR is very likely...considering that the new head of AIG has announced that all non-central business assets will be disposed of to pay for the Fed loan. Specifically, anything not related to domestic or international insurance businesses will be liquidated.

Just remember folks that the good people here at Trailboss Realty were ahead of the curve on this one. You know that you can trust Trailboss Realty for your resort needs.

Wonder who ends up with it. It certainly would be a great piece for Boyne or Peaks to add to their collection.

....personally, I hope it's win ;)

Well, AIG will be asking a ridiculous amount of money for it...in a bad market as well...so it will be interesting to see who ends up with it and at what price. I think that another western resort company will snatch it.

Isn't the new lodge a Rock Resort? Isn't there some connection between Rock Resorts and Vail Resorts? I'm wondering if they'd consider making an eastward move. Could you imagine if the Epic pass were good here?

Rock Resorts is owned by Vail.

You have to think that all the majors would be out sniffing - Vail, Intrawest and Boyne/CNL. POWDR is probably out b/c they've got a lot on their hands running Killington into the ground. Seems a little too big or out of character for Peaks.

Actually, the ultimate dream for me would be for Smuggs to buy it. Run a poma along the connector trail......it would be the ultimate eastern ski area

Wow. I love to see what prices they come up with when assets like these are sold. Always astounds me.

In the current climate, I'd be amazed if they found a buyer.
No kidding. How low would they have to go to find a buyer? Even if they could find a buyer, their investment in the new development would surely be lost. No company in their right mind would buy Stowe Mountain Resort at its actual value right now.

Except I'm not sure if SMR is the owner of the new development. I think it's owned by one of AIG's investment funds that is used to generate the returns paid out to policy holders. SMR probably owns a piece of it, but that entity alone could never come up with the scratch. Regardless, it's defininitely a buyers' market out there.
