Ridley Phaeton T
The quality of a Ridley bike is seen in the way that it performs in competition. Taking every opportunity to shave grams and increase aerodynamics, every Ridley is made to win a grand tour, let alone a local crit series or triathlon. The Ridley Phaeton T is no exception. Ridley is dedicated to building bikes that meet the demands of the road and the rider, and if you're looking for a triathlon bike that won't cost you a season's worth of entry fees, the Phaeton T is your answer.
The Phaeton T stands in the middle of the Ridley triathlon offerings. Made from triple-butted 7005-series aluminum, the material strikes a design balance between lightweight and rigid to ensure nimble handling and accelerations, without any of the bone-rattling road feedback. And since the Phaeton T is a triathlon specific frame, Ridley made sure that it benefits from trickle-down aerodynamic technologies of its Phaeton R and Dean RS frames. For example, during the construction process, the seat and down tubes have been hydroformed to calculated shapes that maximize airflow for an exact aerodynamic advantage. The carbon 4ZA R-blade carbon fork also borrows the upper-echelonSplit Fork technology, where the inside of the fork uses a narrow shape to keep clustered airflow from slowing you down over the course. Ridley also shares its top-shelf F-Surface treatment, where strategically placed sections of 'rough paint' on the frame smooth out the laminar air flow around the head and seat tubes. Ridley claims that thistechnologyreduces overall drag by around 3%, which over the course of 180km, will shave seconds and help to conserve precious watts.
Though the tube-shapes and materials play vital roles in creating a bike that's both responsive and aerodynamic, the geometry of the bike is what determines if you're going to be comfortable during your race. So, the Phaeton T uses a geometry that's considerate of where you're going to be spending most of your time -- tucked into your TT position. The 78 degree seat tube angle sets your hips forward towards the bars to give you the most efficient power transfer possible. The angle is accented by an adjustable, full length aero carbon seat post, and with Ridley's A.S.A system, you get multiple seat angles and positions to dial in your fit over the season.
The Ridley Phaeton T is available in the color Green/black/white and in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large.
