Trip Report: A great Xmas eve for the salsgang clan at Saddleback. We clicked in at 9AM and got some lucious first run cord on Gray Ghost and we immediately hopped into an ungroomed Blue Devil. Saddleback got an inch or so overnight and even that much was enough to freshen it up just a bit. So we made first tracks down Blue Devil to much fun.
The two major groomed trails (Gray Ghost and Green Weaver) were stellar. Deeeeeep snow on these trails. Skiers right on Gray Ghost was awesome. We were bouncing in and out of the loose powder dancing around the trees. Kind of made our own mini-glade. Loads of fun.
Both the bottom parts of Parmacheenee Bell and Golden Smelt were really nice. Soft snow. Had to get around some sticks and rocks, but cover was good considering. Don't take your primo skis on the ungroomed as we have a couple of gouges, but if you have that expectation it is loads of fun. Good thing Santa brought me an early Xmas gift in a new PTex Gun.
The beginner area below the lodge had excellent coverage and there were quite a few folks getting lessons and the like. Nice to see.
Overall, a very nice day. Some pics.
Looking down a very pretty early morning Gray Ghost:
Boy #1 getting some Gray Ghost Air:
Boy #2 ripping some Gray Ghost "Side Stash" as we call it:
Sunny Shot up Royal Coachman Chair. They should have that trail open by the weekend:
Boyz heading down Blue Devil:
More Gray Ghost Side Stash
