Trip Report: Yes! Best day of the year at Saddleback. We had a really good time today. The snow conditions were PRIMO! They have got some major snow depths. One time in the woods, I stuck my 50" pole all the way in and I barely touched the ground. Good crowd on the hill... but barely any lift lines all day. No wind, temps in the 20's. Sweet!
We did everything off the Rangeley double - Favorites were a groomed Blue Devil. Royal Coachman under the chair left bumps on skiers left which were a blast to play in. Peachy's Peril and great soft bumps you could blast through. Even the narrow steeps of Upper Professor and Jane Craig had good coverage and we all pounded our way down them. You couldn't go wrong. Point your skis downhill and have fun!
I took boy #2 on a NW Pass run to check out the other side of the mountain off the upper TBar. Good stuff over there. We will have to practice T-Bar'n so we can explore that side of the mountain more... as the NW Pass is quite a lot of "poleing". We went down Tight Line which was firm by that time of the day but edged well and got in the lower part of Wardens Worry. Next year the upper T-Bar goes away for a low-level Quad they say. Some are in favor, some not, but it will open up more of the mountain for folks like us.
Here are some pics - first two are going down Peachy's Peril - and the last is a look at Intimidator Glade off of Green Weaver.
