I used to know the name of that hill. You can see it right from Rt. 91. Is it still open? I can't remember if it was a public area, or an area used by a local prep school or college.

Just below Greenfield to the south I believe is Deerfield Academy's slope if you're looking to the right on 91 North.

That sounds about right! Yep, it's on the right side of 91 as you're heading north. I guess it would be towards the east if my sense of direction is somewhat correct.

OK then where is Mt Tom.

Further south, just north of Holyoak.

yeah its right where 91 gets a little twisty through that little mountain ridge. right after the wyckoff golf course and where the scenic overlook is.

you really could only see the lights for night skiing from the highway. trails werent really visible even when it was open.

** Ding ** Ding ** Ding ** We have a winner. Both of these posts are correct. It is NOT Deerfield Academy's hill. Eaglebrook Academy is the winner.

Actually Deerfield Academy had a small ski area on the backside of that same hill although it's not visible from I-91.

Interesting !! We've heard several stories about that place

Some friend's kids went there and often spoke highly of that venue , Both boys were racers apparantly and they tell a story about King Hussein of Jordan standing there on a parent's weekend in the Winter in patent leather shoes and a little Chesterfield formal coat to watch his son ( Now King Abdullah ) race that day.

Apparantly Abdullah was AMERICANIZED and was liked by his classmates

Thanks for the photos

Yes, very much so, but only for students and staff. I actually will have another opportunity to ski their this year as Eaglebrook is hosting the SL portion of the Tri-State championships in February.

On a side note, the double chair at Eaglebrook (pictured above) is the old summit double from Wachusett.

Yes! Believe it or not 10 years ago!

Has anyone been up there recently? I'm not sure about getting there via the access road. I know they're clearing a lot of land near/on the old Mountain Park.

I do know you could get to the ski area from the other side of the mountain. Yeah, it's a long hike and a very round about way. You can park near the Log Cabin banquet facility in East Hampton and hike the trails from there. IIRC, you could hike from the reservation that's a bit down the road. It's been years since I've hiked that place though.
