Ski areas that charge money for parking

Figured I'd make a list of ski area's/resorts that charge money for parking. Since I haven't skied in NE in a while, I'm only including Colorado areas to help out those that might be planning a ski trip. Feel free to add your own or correct me if I'm wrong since I'm doing this from memory. Some of this depends on which base you park as well


From a consumer standpoint, I'm a little annoyed by the fee for most of the Vail Resorts ski areas, but from a business perspective, it makes sense since they discount their season passes so heavily ($649 for a season pass to their resorts, plus El Dora and A-Basin)


A-Basin - Free, No Bus Required
Breckenridge - Variable, depending on how close you park to the base. Average is $15 if you park by the breck connect, where you take either a gondola or a bus to the base
Copper - Premium parking $10 right at the base (Not many spots though). Free for regular parking, bus required
Winter Park- Free, cabriolet (Also free, no lift ticket required) to base, 5 minute walk to slope required though
Keystone - Free, no bus required
Beaver Creek - The worst!!!!! $33 to park in the garage more than 4 hours (no bus required for this), there is allegedly free parking that is serviced by a bus a couple miles down the road, but I couldn't find it
Vail - I haven't been here in a few years, when I was there last time it was $30 to park, and a 5 minute walk to the base. Allegedly there is limited free parking there as well, but it's not well known
Loveland - Free, no bus required
El Dora- Free, No Bus Required

Jiminy Peak now charges $20 for the upper lots. Just a weekend/peak day thing I imagine, but stupid regardless. That place sucks.

I paid the $30 to park in the garages at Vail last year (about a 5 minute walk from the Lions head village base and 10 minutes from the garage I was in by Vail village and the Gondola One base) - mainly because the shuttle bus from Beavercreek where we stayed to Vail for me, my wife and our 2 kids would of been $28 for the day with much less flexibility in when it departed to/from Beavercreek - the extra $2 was worth the flexibility for sure!

Mount Snow gets $10 per day for their preferred parking lot on the weekend behind the Main base lodge

I used their free lots a couple times. Worked fine for me, plenty of busses, so no waiting.

Jackson Hole's free parking is quite a distance from the ski area. Apparently it's partially meant to keep the traffic low.

It is $20 for valet parking. They are based out of the top most lot, which is not open for regular parking anyway, so no spots were taken away from regular free parking.

The only one I know of near me is Park City Mountain Resort. I think that Canyons charges for folks to park up above and avoid the Cabriolet Ride, but it's a pretty small lot.

I hear K charges for parking on weekends in Bay 1. Wouldn't know cause I don't ski weekends. They do charge for seasonal parking above Bay 1 near the gondi.

They can scratch my arse.

One thing I think you need to address in this post is who is actually charging you for parking. For example, the Town of Breckenridge is most likely charging you for parking in their town parking lots, including the one with the gondola. The same thing goes for Vail. So you beef would really be with the Towns these resorts are located in and not the actual ski resorts.

The free parking is pretty easy and the bus ride is only 5 minutes to the chair. Take the bus back from the village though because the ski back really sucks.

Camelback, PA, Upper Lot, weekends/Holidays, $10 or $15 bucks. Refuse to pay it, get my exercise walking up from Lot 2. Don't really mind ski areas charging for close parking but will never pay for it either.

No charge to park at the lower lodge. Parking lot is right there, same level - no hill to climb. They don't always do rentals out of that lodge, if that matters. But they do sell tickets. Also, that lodge is a little less obnoxious about the "you can't bring food in here!" BS.

Sunday River does charge I think $10 for close parking at South Ridge on weekends, but there is plenty of free parking everywhere else, along with walks of no more than 3-4 minutes (Barker up to 5-6 minutes). On the busiest days, shuttles serve an outer parking lot.

Very little paid parking. Lots better now that there paved.
