Does anybody have any experience with ski locks, both cable locks, and the ones that clip onto ski racks. You see them every now and then, but I wonder if they will actualy keep your skis from getting swiped. I know people who have had ski's stollen from arround resorts, and you cant check your ski's, or put them on a car rack every time you need to run inside etc...

"If your being chased by a bear in the woods, you don't have to run fast; you just have to run faster than your buddy!"

If they really want to take your skis they can certainly cut the lock. The real deterent is that the culprit will not want to waste time or risk being seen snipping the chain. It's easier to go to the next pair of nice skis w/o a lock. I lock my skis up all the time. If you have demo bindings it's best to lock your skis up as the adjustable binding is more attractive to the thief. (ALLSKIING gave me that tip when we were up at Jiminy)

Check out Greg's Ski Lock thread on this same subject from earlier in the year. Also search the skiing forum as the benefits/drawbacks of locking your skiis has been discussed a few times...

I'm gonna close this thread so we can keep the info all in one place. Please continue the discussion there.
