Our skis usually get piled up in the kitchen next to our desk (yes, we live in a very small apartment) where they get knocked over a few times a month. But hey, we don't have a lot of space. Well, today while I was cleaning up, I looked at the kids' over-the-door coat rack and had a eureka moment. I grabbed a pair of my skis and it worked!

So if you have little space but have a door with nothing on the back of it, you could try this. I'm probably going to add some sort of rubber covering to the hooks to protect the skis a little better, too.

This works well in our case because we never use that door; it's partially blocked by the couch and an end table. It might be problematic on a door you use often...

Sev, you are quite the inspiration.
I'm afraid that the weight of my skis would hinder the door hinges, but I have an old farm house with old fixtures.

I would definitely try this kind of thing with a wall mounted unit!

Nice. I need to cobble together one of those setups with some wooden dowels. It looks much like your coat rack contraption.

...and a dozen pairs of skis. ;)

Definitely thought of wall-mounting as being an alternative. So you spend like $5/$8 for the coat rack and get a ski rack out of it. I've seen similar items sold as ski racks that only hold 2 pairs and cost a lot more money.

I should add that if you're a really tall guy with heavy skis, it might not work. Brian's 178 Lines fall right out. :( So maybe it's not as great of an idea as I first thought. That said, my 3 pairs are still hanging up from this morning with no issues. They are 165 (light), 165 (medium), and 162 (kind of heavy).

We have a wall mounted rack similar to that we have been using for years. It uses wooden pegs to hold the skis and poles. It only holds 4 pairs though. I need to add on to it this summer. What Lines don't fit? I haven't tried my prophets in the rack yet because they have been living in my truck since I got them. I guess I will have to do a test fit!

Brian has 178 Line Anthems that have demo bindings on them, so they're just too heavy for the hooks to hold. Works fine for my skis though. :D
