Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT
Conditions: COLD (4*F at start, low 20s at finish), clear skies, sunny, packed powder, firm, some nicely churned up powdery stuff
Trip Report: Late start again... got on the hill maybe 9:20ishAM to see Jeff loading on the chair. Didn't think he saw me so I took my first run down Canyon. Firm cord on the left and some cookies, but not bad. Pretty much avoided the Ex bumps though. I talked to Chris before hitting the hill and I think I was psyched out by his report on the condition of the bumps: basically, stay out, they're icy.
Took a few more runs down Nor'Easter before I finally found Jeff waiting at the sundeck. Other than instructors setting up cones in the middle of Ex, today was pretty good. The Maries were great; I was feeling pretty confident on them and letting it loose. Even beat Jeff to the bottom of Nor'Easter a few times.
The part of Ex at the bottom of Stinger was really nice; some really churned up powdery stuff there that skied beautifully. Just a nice day out. Toes were cold, but not bad. The down jacket took care of the cold, even though it's not the most flattering look.
Thanks for skiing with me Jeff!
