Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown

Conditions: PP, cloudy skies, warm (for January)

Trip Report: My buddy and i took our daughters out for a 1/2 day on the slopes.

Arrived just before 1 PM to a packed parking lot. Having only skied Sundown a couple of times at night I expected the worst but I was very pleasantly surprised to walk into the lodge and find several open tables where we could get the girls ready to go.

We headed over the beginner's area and basically lapped Sensation and Big Bend all afternoon. We took a quick break around 2:30 to get the girls a snack and a drink. Again, very happy to find plenty of tables available in the lodge for us to sit and relax for a few minutes.

The bumps on Big Bend (ok, a single bump) was fun, the girls loved it. We also found a little glade skiing to the left of Big Bend. It was more of a detour around a few trees than a glade but 7/8/9 year olds found it very exciting and now they brag that they went tree skiiing :-D My daughter did her first table-top in the terrain park on Sensation (holding on to my poles as i skied next to her).

It was a great afternoon of skiing with the kids. We're heading up to VT for a few days next weekend and the girls are very excited!

I also made my first ski video. it is long and boring unless the kids in it are related to you

Glad Sundown worked out well for you. The Sunny Side beginner area seems to work out well for folks. Yesterday was pretty busy, but I think the bulk of the people were on the main slope. I'm actually surprised to hear there were tables in the lodge at 1:00. I would have figured that the lunch crowd would still be in there at that point. I guess it was nice enough outside that plenty of people were able to eat outside...
