Ski Sundown question

my buddy was @ sundown last week and noticed numbers on many trees (metal tags). While there last night he pointed them out to me. We couldn't figure out what they meant. They seemed to be in order, for example on one trail the numbers counted down (6-12, 6-11, 6-10, etc). Asked a lift attendant if he knew the purpose but he didn't.

Anyone here know?

Those are the trees that have lights on them. The #s identify the lights.

No problem! I've never even noticed them before but it makes sense.
