WE WILL BE CLOSED ON FRI., JAN. 11; WE
WILL REOPEN ON SAT., JAN. 12 AT 8AM
MESSAGE FROM MOUNTAIN
OPERATIONS: "We knew it was coming....this
typical January thaw. When temperatures were low
last week snowmaking operations ran round the
clock for 96 continuous hours. Currently
there are over 100 reserved piles of snow on the
mountain, still waiting to be distributed and
groomed into existing surfaces, as needed. 100%
of our terrain will be open for the weekend."

That message was up, slightly tweaked, the other day saying they would remain 100% open. Interesting....

Can't say I blame them, though. With heavy rains all day today and high temps, it can't be helping. I think the news said 1" of rain. Imagine how much snow that would have been!

Don't know what's rolling through Central CT this AM, but if some similar storms that have been rolling through Eastern CT this AM are near Sundown today, they'd need to stop the lifts periodically for thunder and lightening holds! Really weird stuff. Let's just hope from a precipitation standpoint that once the air mass goes back to cold, that we keep this active storm pattern!

I'd be REALLY surprised if they survive... :(

Ex is kind of beat anyway. I'm sure those will be mashed down. Nor'easter was skiing pretty good except for the burned out troughs. I'm not concerned though. We're still way ahead of when we got bumps last year. I got 8 days in on them so far so it's all gravy as far as I'm concerned. Once winter returns, it's time to start concentrating skiing up North anyway. I haven't been away from Sundown since the Hunter gathering...

Anyone plan on going to Sundown tomorrow? Please post a report so I know if I should keep my plans of going there Sunday morning.

Skied there last night and conditions were pretty good considering. Very spring like with lots of loose granular to push around that was bumping up a bit in spots. Scratchy in between.

I'll be there tomorrow, doubt I'll get out on skis though. I'll let you know how it looks from the base at least... ;)

Glad to hear it. Due to life getting in the way, I didn't make it out skiing this week... I think I had an okay week to be busy as hell though (all things considering). Depending on what happens with these two possible storms, I'll be at Wa sometime next week (If it dumps up north, I'm taking a couple days and going up that way however).

Sorry, guess I should have started a new thread.... I didn't really think about it since I use the button to bring you to the first new post in a thread...
