Will they still blow snow for you guys even in the middle of March? Probably not cost effective, but would go along way in creating go will with the faithful.

As good as they are about making snow whenever and wherever, i think they are done for the year. They have so much base its unreal. the drop off from the trails to the woods is like 4 feet or more in places. They have radio ads going in connecticut touting skiing till april. It takes a boatload of snow for a ski area to make it to april down here in the land of rain.

Maybe they can push some snow around so you guys can have your course. You really don't need to seed it for this type of competition. At Gore they blow a ton of snow on a trail named Hawkeye and just let skiers develop rut lines over a couple of days. It really works out well and is a challenging course.

to put a positive spin on it.

In '01 i went to bromley on closing weekend. They had an absolute monsoon hit them the day before. The bumps held their ground but were just water logged. It was the strangest thing to try to ski but they didnt dissolve. Considering how absolutely setup those bumps on temptor are/were, i have to say i think they will manage to survive. they'll probably, ok, they will shrink but i cant see them having to mow them down since the weather is supposed to remain kinda warm through the next week.

Thanks for the positive vibes. I think I'm mostly depressed because this storm made me realize how rapidly the season is winding down around here... :(

Of course I'm also pissed that I won't be able to get many practice runs in before the comp next Sunday...

Lots of rain, but only a high of 44*F and no wind. That rain should mostly just drain through. Sure, some base will be lost, but I'm sure after a few warm days with some skier traffic, the Temptor bumps will snap back. It's supposed to be cold at night next week. It wouldn't surprise me if they hit Temptor with a quick shot of snowmaking. Any word on whether the kickers went in and if they seeded additional bumps?

I think I may take up heavy drinking tonight...

And heavy drink I did. Left my house around 6:00pm Friday to go have a few drinks with some fellow lifties, got home around 5:20am Saturday morning. I guess there's one good thing about the local hill being closed, if it wasn't I would have had to leave for work at about the time I got home...

Things didn't seem too bad after that, for a while at least... ;)

It probably would have been boring. I doubt liftie woes are very exciting to outsiders... ;) Though I did almost fall out of my chair a few times, I guess that would have been funny. :spin:

A new pair of boots and a new pair of skis...
Don't let him fool you. The boots were decided upon at the beginning of the season...we were just waiting for the tax refund to pay for them.

My wife is a bartender in Coventry and the law in Connecticut is to allow service after 11am and no alcohol may be served after 1am monday-thursday and after 2am on friday-saturday nights.

In the larger cities the law is different with service hours slightly extended.
