Next time, if you can't think of anything better to say than, "it was skiable", just say it sucked and save me the trouble of asking somebody who will give me an honest opinion.

[/rant]

Seriously... 90% of this board is always like...
"Well any day with skis on is a good day"

That being said - why would you trust anyones opinion?

"Edgeable" definitely adds meaning. There is solid ice/boilerplate, which in any realistic sense is not edgeable. Then there is something that is very hard, still icy, but on which one can turn (even without diamond edges). That would be edgeable.

As for "skiable," it has a much vaguer meaning to me. It could be used in the sense of "edgeable," and I think that might be how I would generally use it; it also could mean there aren't too many bare spots on the trail. So I guess it is less useful to me than "edgeable," because I see it as having a less specific meaning, but I think it generally conviews the viewpoint that while the skiing might have sucked, it didn't completely suck :)

Well it just sucks so stay in NY and leave the edgeable, skiable stuff to me.

Its all good even if the pond ice is just barely edgeable. as long as it's skiable it's better then a day in the office.

If its ice ,it sucks.
If i see glare,it sucks
If i hear it,it sucks
If 4 or 5 skiers/snowboarders come down at once and it sounds like a jet engine,it sucks

Sorry, call them as i see them.
This is from a person that skiis almost everyday.

By the way - how are the powder bumps skiing at Sundown with all that new (windblown) snow they got?

I feel for you. It seems you hate yourself and the friends you ski with. If I'm riding with my friends it is almost always a good time. The only time i think it sucks is after an ice storm when it is just plain dangerous. If you ski everyday I'm wondering where? Okemo?
ski220 wanted to know how the windblown bumps were at sundown. I'd say they were pretty damn good and the fact that they were windblown made the woods at sundown really sweet.

I love ski-snobs!

Ski-able means you can get down in one piece, edgeable means you can get some turns in with some effort rather than just sideslipping down the hill.

Good means patches of ice with some soft bits.

Great means no ice

Epic means powder and lots of it.

That's in Scotland anyway.

If you can get a day on the mountain that is as it's advertised then it's a good day!

I like how a friend of mine characterizes various snow conditions. According to him, there are only two: "good" and "good for you".

I've met a person at Stowe who characterizes all snow conditions as either "good" (i.e., you're skiing, it's all good) or "easy".
