8/16 Bruce Springsteen - Philthydelphia. We have good friends who are hard core fans. This is more or less checking off a box for me. I'm sure it'll be fun

So the Internet continues to scare me sometimes. All of a sudden I'm scrolling through Facebook just now and an article pops up about Bruce's show tonight being postponed. Beyond this thread I have no ties to Springsteen. The article was from nj.com which I don't follow on Facebook. So just really creepy that it randomly showed up as a "suggested" post that I might be interested in.

Targeted ad/ai is getting wild. That kind of stuff happens to me all the time. The even more disconcerting occurrence is when you talk about something and an ad for it pops up right after…

Maiden is a criminally underrated band.

For sure. First heavy metal show I ever went to was Iron Maiden on their Powerslave tour with the sweet Egyptian staging, and Twisted Sister (Stay Hungry Tour) opening. Still going strong 40 years later - here’s a couple shots I took at the Hartford show on the 2019 tour

Number of shows coming up

8/19 - Revel in the meadow. A somewhat recreation of Watkins Glen 73 with Allman's, Grateful Dead, The Band and Little Feat tributes. Little Feat didn't play that 800k capacity show, but it's a nice bonus

8/21 - GnR Fenway. First time seeing them since 93 while in Highschool. Bringing my 4 and 8 year olds as they are big fans and I want them to see them while they're still around.

9/1 - Moe Lowell
9/16 - Ween Hampton
11/13 - Tool Manchester

Yes Bruce was postponed at 3 PM yesterday. Luckily for me our friend is a teacher and couldn't leave for Philythidelphia until 4. Otherwise we'd have certainly had been in the lot or at least in the city somewhere by then...

Tool is absolutely amazing live. they are very tight with incredible visuals and the sound is impeccable. I hope they are still using the stage setup they were in 2019. They had this reflective chain curtain that would open and close depending on the song and it made the videos on the screen behind them look 3D! I personally like the longer form "prog" style songs, but some people are more into the harder rocking stuff.

Its funny I was very into metal but never listened to Iron Maiden when I was a kid. I found them around 2010 and was blown away how I never listened to them. I must see them live before they get too old...

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to the visual experience just as much as the music for Tool. I have zero desire to go to Vegas, but if they are ever booked at the new Sphere venue, Id strongly consider it. The visuals they'd be able to create in that space would be something.

I saw Maiden for the first time last October. They were incredible, especially for their age. Guys in their late 60s playing just as fast and hard as 40 years ago. I'll also say it was an extremely humorous experience. It was like a Dungeons and Dragons hard rock convention. Their diehard fans are some serious nerds!

from the videos I've seen Maiden's commitment to changing the back drops for the different songs/eras is impressive. Also funny that they do it with curtains and not a video screen. the Flight 666 documentary where Bruce D is flying the 747 Ed Force 1 all over the world is a great look into those guys lifes. Crazy Bruce is a legitiment pilot!

Bruce Dickinson was also ranked in the top 10 fencers in the UK at one time…

I like Bruce Springsteen although just a casual fan. Saw him live once, in 1978. Rosalita was the show stopper in those days. I was around to see him rise from obscurity. He was huge during my college days at Univ of Maryland when Born to Run came out (a lot of Jersey folks went to that school). He always had boundless energy and still seems to be going pretty strong. Gotta respect that he took care of himself and endured. Sold his catalog a few years ago for $550 mil. I don't understand all that financial stuff, but the classic rockers were lucky as heck compared to modern bands when it came to making money from their music. They hit the sweet spot for record sales income and now these catalog sales.

yeah for sure on the financial side of things!

I read recently that Bruce has never done drugs and starting in the 80s is a vegan and workoutaholic. Good for him.

It looks like this concert might not get rescheduled until October as there are no open dates at the Phillies stadium that line up with open dates in the tour schedule. That's fine by me if that happens, as the weather will be a lot nicer in October than August!

Saw BS once in NJ at Brendan Byrne Arena in the early 80's and it was kind of weird in that the entire crowd sang along to every word of every song so it kind of ruined the show for me. His band just sounds like mush. He has written some really good songs.

Wife dragged me to see his Broadway show and though I am not a fan, the guy has an undeniable charisma about him - he had that entire theatre hanging on every word. We were sitting next to some folks from England who had come over just to see Bruce. This was their second time at the same show.

Just turn targeted ads off and that won't happen.

I’ve been on a 90’s indie binge lately, so these artists are very relevant :)

Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, Lemonheads, Guster… coincidentally (along with Pixies) all MA-based bands.

Skiing is off the radar for me until Jan the earliest, but still need to get the boy to the mountain so will be making alot of music mixes to pass the time waiting for ski programs to end for the day each weekend.

Still waiting to see if the Philthydelphia Bruce Shows will be rescheduled this fall. They did announced that information will be available soon along with refunds if you want them.

Hope you get to see him, he can put on a show.
Was just watching some of his reunion tour shows, some of my favorite live performances on video…
This perfectly encapsulates the type of performer he is
And this is a great vocal performance with a perfect sax solo by the Big Man (RiP)

I almost went to Bruce tonight in Foxboro, as tickets were $11. Way undersold. Might go Saturday if tickets are similarly priced. Not a big fan, but saw him in '83 I think and enjoyed the show. Smashing Pumpkins tickets are $5 for tomorrow, that may happen...

For $5 thats a no brainer in my opinion. Actually listened through Mellon Collie earlier today. Where are you finding these tickets so cheap?
