not even all that much coin in those concerts. dead and co is about a $100 ticket. bruce is prob north of $100. everything else strikes me as a $40-$70ish type of show. phish, mmj, moe, tab. the savvy concert goer can get into those shows for under face.

i see live music every week, sometimes multiple nights a week, when its not ski season. its what i do for fun and enrichment when it is not winter. june was hot chip, joe russo's new jazz project, kendrick lamar at gov ball, the disco biscuits, and dead and company. i am glad to have a bit of a reprieve before jrad and phish at the end of july/beginning of august. im seeing sigur ros with the london symphony in august. seeing bonobo in montreal in september. run the jewels 10th anny show in september. black coffee (dj) at msg in october. fred again (dj/producer) at forest hills in october. then its ski season.

edited to add - this is the first year i had to actually spend some money on dead and co. every other year i have waited til the last minute and an industry connection would come thru, or we would buy drastically under face shitty seats on stubhub and have no problme moving. this year, citi field was goddamn fucking packed. there was no under face tix on the secondary market. industry connections did not offer anything up. and the day of show they released $90 seats behind the stage that explicitly said 'no stage view'. to avoid nonsense, we just sucked it up and got 6 $150 tickets together. first time we've ever needed to do that. people are def coming out for the 'last tour'

That's fine. I see my fair share of smaller shows. I don't have time to go out for music on mutiple nights each week. It would cut into biking, tending the vegitable garden, going to the beach at night with friends and seeing my family. I see live misic about once a week at small venues around Boston. it's enough for me but I am truely done with big venues. People suck.

i mostly tend to agree on size. theres basically one act in the world that can get me to go to a concert in a football/baseball stadium (the dead), and a handful that i'd be happy to see in an arena or 20k-ish lawn amphitheatre type place (phish, a few classic rock acts, a few hip hop acts, dmb when its cheap on the lawn). most of my music is taken in the clubs, theatres, and parks of nyc

that being said, i love the grandiosity and depravity and chaos of a gigantic grateful dead show/parking lot. half the fun.

A few days ago I bought tickets for my wife and I for our first post-pandemic concert. It's not for about three months, but I'm really stoked. The venue is close to my house back in VA and it's for the ONE act I'm probably most interested in seeing these days. We're going to see Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

I like both individually, each a giant in their music genres, and I'm fascinated by the cool stuff they do together.
It's really bad form to say this, but when you buy a ticket well in advance to see an ancient rock god like Plant there's a little bit of leap of faith that they'll still be kicking by the time of the concert date. But I guess I could say the same about my geezer self.:giggle:

PS: service fees suck these days.
Ugg! Supposed to see Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tonight. Dry weather and moderate temps, but they postponed the show at the last minute until next year because...

{Due to the impact of the Canadian forest fires on the air quality in the Washington, D.C. metro area, tonight’s sold-out concert with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss at Wolf Trap has been postponed and will be rescheduled for Summer 2024.}

When my wife found out about the cancellation she scheduled us for an alternate activity - I'm cleaning household toilets:sick:
I already had some beverages on ice in a cooler (Wolftrap allows BYOB) when we found out about no show, so in between cleaning jobs I'm enjoying a can of Founders All Day IPA. Maybe a Yuengling Lager after the next job.;)

I understand a Plant-Krauss concert for Ohio was cancelled last night for the same reason.

Bummer @jimk

I have a good week of concerts starting today! Phish at the Mann Center in Philthydelphia, we have pit tickets. Which is cool, but I'm short so I'll probably dance my way somewhere else at some point to see.

Then My Morning Jacket at the Anthem in Washington DC with our good friends. Two of my favorite bands in 1 week is a treat!

I play with General Neisences every Saturday night at the Evertte Arena.

Most of the time we use fireworks instead of exploding cannon fire. The police leave us alone for the most part.

Going to attend a music camp in the Catskills next week. Super excited!

It's called Roots Rock Revival and was started 10 years ago by Allman Bros. drummer, Butch Trucks. Bassist Oteil Burbridge is the leader now.

Nightly shows with Oteil and Friends, North Mississippi Allstars, Vaylor Trucks, and Taz Needermiers Trouble No More. Daily seminars and jams all day and night.

Some great guitarists to learn from: Eric Krasnow, Duane Betts, Taz, and Luther Dickerson who is a really great slide player.

They were one of the first indoor shows at the Stone Church when things started to open back up from the pandemic. Lot of pent up energy and they crushed. Really cool seeing them in a room that only holds 150.

Wait the North Mississippi Allstars played the Stone Church? That must have been insane. That is a small venue for those guys.

Saw My Morning Jacket at The Anthem in DC. Great Show in an even greater venue. Specifically designed as a concert venue there isn't a bad seat in the house and the sound is perfect.

There's gonna be maybe 100-150 people total at this thing in the Cats with guys like Oteil and Kraz in the audience when. they're not up on stage.

Heading up around noon! Last saw NMA at Telluride Blues and Brews September 2021. One of the earlier post pandemic festivals.

Yup. Top ten night for me there for sure and I've conservatively seen 300+ shows at that venue.

Phish.

Saturday - fun but not memorable music. lots of drugs

Sunday - best phish show I’ve seen in many years. 2 7 song sets. Tons of jam. S1 basically greatest hits. Sober

Wednesday - among the worst phish shows I’ve ever seen. Left early. Sober

Maddeningly inconsistent phish

I feel kind of foolish about my recent attempt to attend a Robert Plant-Alison Krauss concert and I'm starting to think I've been scammed.

Maybe you guys who are more savvy about purchasing tickets online for music shows can shed some light??

Back in April I bought two tickets online to a Plant-Krauss concert for late June 2023. On the night of the show I was able to pull up my tickets on my phone, but the show was canceled at the last minute due to smoky air quality from Canadian fires.

A couple of days later I started looking into a refund. Silly me - I was surprised to find out that I had purchased my tickets through a third party (tickets-center.com), and not the box office of the venue (Wolftrap). I had not purchased concert tickets in a few years and totally missed that I was not buying them directly from the venue's website.

I think I would have had legit tickets and gotten into the show if it hadn't been cancelled. I approached the venue for a refund and they told me I had to appeal to the third party for it. It wasn't exactly clear who the third party was at first as my online ticket info cited a couple different ".com's". I finally got through by phone to tickets-center.com and they acknowledged that my tickets were from them, but they wouldn't give me a refund because:

"We understand that this has been a long wait for you. Your event is still in postponed status. Our teams are working to confirm more details on the future date. While the situation is out of our control, we're committed to full transparency every step of the way. As soon as we receive an official update, we'll send you an email with the rescheduled date. In the case that your event is cancelled, we'll email you more information about your compensation options. Don't forget that your tickets will be valid for the new date. Due to this reason, we are unable to cancel your order. Our vendors are not able to cancel orders for postponed events, so it's not an option we can extend either. Please keep in mind that we can only offer compensation if an event is officially cancelled."

More than a month has gone by since I received the above explanatory verbiage. No further word from tickets-center.

Do you frequent concert goers think I'll ever get a refund? I think I read somewhere that Wolftrap would like to reschedule Plant-Krause for summer of 2024. Does ticket-center get to hold my money (almost 300 bucks) for a year while this is being determined? Anyone else ever deal with ticket-center.com? Do I have other options to request a refund?

Thanks!
