Skiing with audible speakers is a huge faux pas. Obnoxious main character behavior. If you want music you wear headphones. I would have been confrontational to the kid on your chair. I enjoy such conflicts. I love yelling at people who break subway etiquette. Step the fuck aside and let people off before you get on you fucking asshole. Stop standing still on the left of the escalator you piece of garbage.

lol - I get it and u sound like me 20 years ago. As I age I pick and choose. The thought of getting into a confrontation with a kid abt 30 years younger thn me over that is just something that didn't interest me. My son and his buddy were hitting up another part of the mountain but when I told them they said 'we would've ripped that 'jerry' a new asshole for you'

Different strokes. DSO does absolutely nothing for me. Snoozeadelic

You really want to snooze - you should see Dead and slow. I would go to local shows (Philly or NYC area) to meet up with friends and have a good time all day but damn are they slow. DSO is my soft spot but yea JRad is good and fun. Have tix for Asbury in May

lol I have a soft spot for dead and co

I just always really enjoyed the once a year giant stadium “Grateful Dead” show. And I really like John and his study of the music and culture. They’re held back by Bob who is so slow tempo. But I love a John sung sugaree and Althea so much. Their last Citi field show is an actual good show. Or maybe it was the acid.

Psychedelics always help but it has been many moons for me and those experiences. At my age, some good weed and and drinks - I'm good.

As you said “different strokes” but still good stuff and fun times for fans old and new. Funny thing is, as a Jerry ‘freak’ who saw him so many times btwn Dead and JGB in the late 80’s and early 90’s- seeing/hearing John sing Althea or Sugaree annoys the fawk out of me lol - but not his playing. I think he’s an amazing talent and pays so much respect to any genre of music he plays, past greats that played it including Jerry and his music, etc. His voice and mannerism on certain tunes just 'annoys' me but not enough to be too critical at all and not have a good time at shows - it isn’t that serious tho some fans are anal.

I do think as the years of Dead and Co went on it was Billy and Mikey slowing them down as well (yea age will do that to ya). When Jay Lane filled in for Billy mid summer tour ’22 I think - saw them at Citizens in Philly and def a different faster tempo thn '21. Great setlist, tempo etc and probably my favorite Dead and Co show. Didn’t really city destination show for them like I do sometimes with Phish (North East when I feel like it) but I did do a weekend at Sphere last year. Wanted to experience the venue and why not do it with my favorite music in a fun town like Vegas with my woman. Was a good time and highly recommend it. Was cool when they played a video of a bunch of GD ticket stubs from the late 80’s and 90’s and I saw a few of the shows I went to back then.

Instead of John, after attending GD50 - Trey did great tho the band was a lil sloppy. What a great weekend and up their in my top 2 of my over 40 years. Would’ve loved to see them do some kind of mini-tour. Back to Billy Strings - wish that Red Rocks line-up stayed together and did a bunch of east coast summer shows. Would’ve def caught a few in some good east coast sheds as I love outdoor summer shows. Pipe dream most likely at this point cause BK isn't getting any younger

Dead and Co in Vegas was great fun and we may go again this year.

Saw Billy and the Kids last time they played the Cap and they kind of sucked.

Bob is the one who wants to slow everything down...just ask Joe Russo.

Yea but Bobby and any original still living mender gets a pass from me excluding passing a comment in discussion. He's 77 and has been on the road for 60 years still doing his thing. Has to hold the record for most shows and hours on stage I'd assume. he'll die on the road doing what he loves.

I love Bobby. I won’t hate on him. Jay Lane was a good switch for Bill tho.

I’d love to catch a Dead and Co sphere. My fiance and I don’t want a wedding. We do want an elopement and we’ve spoken about a non skiing Japan trip. But we’ve also spoken about drive thru Elvis Vegas for the actual ceremony. Maybe if we do that this summer…

What is everyones thoughts on people skiing with their speakers in their backpacks?

I assume they're a-holes with a complete lack of self-awareness and/or doesnt care about others.

The sort of person who is able-bodied, but bought a handicap placard so they can park in the first row of ski area parking (probably grocery store & everywhere tlse too).

what about people who are blasting their music in the car, doors and trunk / tailgates open while they boot up? Are they the same piece of garbage? I can't stand it when people do this. I have never had anyone playing anything remotely close to what I would want to hear...

Agreed. Way different. Much more normal. Skiing around with a Bluetooth speaker is atrocious behavior.

I tend to listen to very nerdy podcasts in the car, but I always flip to the dead Sirius station when I pull in so I don’t end up blasting anyone with NPR talk radio

not any different. You are inflicting your music on everyone around you. Chances are those around you would rather not hear it, unless you are at Sugarbush where everyone weirdly loves the dead. I used to listen to music years ago while riding but gave it up for the purity of sounds around me while riding. And when I hear some kids‘ music when out there, it kind of makes me smile to see how youth today make their musical statement, as long as it’s in passing. In the parking lot or on a chair - most likely I’m going to start conversation…

i am not blasting my music with the intention of other people hearing it. i am listening to my music at the same volume i would listen in the car, with the door open, for 3 minutes while i boot up. i shut off NPR/pod save america/marc maron bc i think it would be weird for the one or two cars directly next to me to hear my podcasts.

this is all completely different from riding around with a speaker all day long while you are in motion. so different. in effect and intention.

and i dont stand around ski area parking lots drinking beers, but i also see no foul when people play their music while they are tailgating. normal stuff. once again, they are stationary. skiing around with a speaker is real asshole stuff in its own league,
