The dead represent a counterculture. Skiing is a counterculture. We are not mainstream sports fans. We are individualists who come together as a tribe of independent people doing our things in a community.

I agree - skiing and Dead go together. I see more and more Dead skull and lightning bolt hats and stickers with a mountain's logo where the lightning bolt goes.

Nowhere now, but everywhere
Yup, I saw the Dead 8 times, the Jerry Garcia Band once and Bobby and the Midnights twice. They were great shows. But that was so 50 fucking years ago! Music has evolved and I do not understand how so many people can listen to the same shit all the time. I still enjoy the occasional song when I hear it but this is like listening to the music your parents listened to. I know Kusty (and others on this forum) do see a lot of new music, but most people in the MRV have not expanded their minds with new music, they shut it out and they are stuck in a fucking musical rut. I've had many conversations with many people over my 20 years there. If you love music, you keep exploring and discovering... With that said, I still think one of the best records ever is "A Space in Time" by Ten Years After. However, I am so looking forward to the new Viagra Boys album and so much other new music coming out this spring. I'm so into the Outlaw Country thing now... Music is so personal and if you want people to listen to your musical tastes, become a dj on a radio station, don't blare it in the parking lot or carry a speaker around. I'm just a balding old gray man on a tray.

what about people who are blasting their music in the car, doors and trunk / tailgates open while they boot up? Are they the same piece of garbage?

These people are obnoxious asshats as well, but the offense isn't as bad as blasting it on the entire lift chair ride, or while skiing.

the worst is when I can hear said shitty music played by the self absorbed assholes

Isnt it always though?

I find the sort of "IDGAS about anyone but myself" person who does this is almost always either listening to some weird European house techno, or some crappy Indie rapper I've never heard of.

There are admittedly exceptions though. Last week I skied by a guy who was blasting George Michael's Careless Whisper. Not only was he being obnoxious, but he sounded like a fag listening to that while skiing, just a really bizarre ski music choice (though I do low-key kind of like that song).

I spit out my matcha latte at your derisive use of the word fag. Keep on keeping America great bud.

Doesn’t that low-key make you a fag too ? Or is your manliness preserved because you only listen to George Michael at home hidden in the closet ?

Wham’s everything she wants is an all time banger.

lol imagine not openly liking music you like because you think other people will think you’re gay for it. Twisted!
