Did this at Kton a few years ago, I brought along the Mountain Bike Trail map, it opened up so much more on the mountain to ski. Has anyone else done/tried this at other areas?

Wow....I feel like an idiot (more than usual). Good idea!

(Hope the ethics police won't nab me.)

Oh, there is ABSOLUTELY no way I would ever reccommend venturing onto relatively maintained lines through the woods in the winter ;) ;) ;)

Did the same thing at K two years ago. As you said, it definitely provides easier access to some of the "natural terrain" on the hill but at the same time can be tricky as they are designed for a bike and not a pair of skis.

I was all set to do this at Magic last year. I had already downloaded and saved the bike trail map, and overlaid it onto the skiing trail map. Unfortunately I didn't make it up there last year. This year though!!

When I was up there last year, we played with names like "Penn" and "Teller" for one of the two part trails.

When I was up there we ended up doing a little skiing on one of the MTB trails on the lower part of the mountain. We didn't use a map though as we were on a guided tour of sorts. :spin:

Did they start doing MTB yet? I know they never got it going last year.

I found the online map for Magic on a mountain biking site. I'm still looking for that link. I think they were just clearing brush at the time, but I thought they opened one of the tracks. I'll keep looking....

They had an announcement about it on their site last spring and even had another website devoted to the MTB operation. I can't remember what that URL was though. I'm 99% sure that they didn't open last year due to delays, and I didn't hear anything about it this year. It's a bummer, seems like it would be a good mountain to MTB on. I guess you could always *gasp* ride up on your bike instead of the lift....

I guess Matt from Magic isn't biting on this carrot I left dangling for him... ;)

From what I understood the stuff marked in white (like between Lower Wizard and Sorcerer) was trails they planned in the future, I don't know if any work was officially done on them. The stuff between Talisman and Lower Magician is in the gladed area known has the Hallows. We were skiing in there when we came across a banked corner that our guide described as being part of the MTB trails. I think we followed the MTB track for a bit from there.
