You consider 75mm waists "skinny"?

that's what i was thinking!!!

seriously, even the ski industry regards this size as a mid-fat. unless that has changed with all these 100mm+ waist skis coming out! my "skinny" ski is my trusty replacement volkl p50 motion which i think is 63mm under foot. love this bad boy for ripping groomers, bumps, and non-powder tree action. though it really is only going to get any use when it is a groomers only day. i wouldn't invest much money in this type of ski unless you plan to get out in the conditions you are suggesting more than a little bit. scavenge up something older and used, it isn't worth pimping new boards for something you will barely use. if you are beant on getting something newer, try demoing some slalom race skis too.

I was thinking more of used or older skis. No more than $200. And about the skinny skis thing, I was kind of kidding. I just meant an everyday except powder day sort of ski. And JimG my old boots might be okay for a demo, but they are absolute crap. I max out the top two buckles and still have about a 1/2 inch around my leg from my ankle up. And BigBog what are you talking about?

So, they're OK to demo with, so demo. I'm not suggesting you ski with them anymore, just to get a feel for the skis if you choose to buy new.

Not trying to be a pain, I just can't imagine buying new skis without demoing them first.

Man...i must be a friggin odd ball...I dont think ive barely demoed 2 pairs of skis my entire skiing life.. and thats a little under 30 years....

I use an analogy when I play golf that Tiger Woods could play with virtually ANY set of golf clubs and still be GREAT...I liken that to skiing. Just give me something that moves down the mtn...and ill make it work...of course some are better than others, but man..I have still yet to meet a pair of skis I truly HATE....I hear all the talk about soft and stiff skis....I honestly cant tell the difference...maybe im a crappy skier...dont know

never met a ski i didnt like... :D

Yeah, probably a good idea. I always seem to miss demo days. Hopefully I'll catch one this year though. Or maybe once demo days come around I realize it is the most epic winter ever and I'll have no need for a skinnier ski...
