When did the Facebook page/group actually start? Looks like the Ski shop with the name has been in business since 2014. I don't think the FB group has existed anywhere near that long. My guess is the business has a decent case here. They only formally trademarked their name in 2022 (presumably after becoming concerned about or aware of the FB group and wanting to protect their existing business), but still that was long after they started using the name in business.

Suing him personally because he does not have an LLC or any other entity set up... sorry to hear that, but you gotta be wise. I doubt this came as a surprise to him. They likely reached out and he refused to back down.

Or more likely, he refused to admit that he was in the wrong, and that the shop owners were correct. Not sure that guy, in his own mind, has ever been wrong about anything!

I will certainly give that shop at K some business next time I am up there! Great for them on calling out this guy, who so many in the industry think is a total tool, even if some of them play "nice" to him because they have the same corporate affiliations

The concept of profiting off a FaceBook page that requires no investment other than time and no service other than plagiarized weather reports and industry gossip is pretty amusing to me. Especially with how serious he takes it and how strong his grifting efforts are.

I hope the ski shop wins the case

Given that he skis Killington, It seems too coincidental that he happens to have this name. My guess is he drove past the shop and thought this would be a great name. He probably could have gotten away with it if he went with skiologist.

Still boggles my mind that there are quite a few people willing to pay him for his "service" apparently.

The internet is filled with idiots who are willing to look at idiotic content and obviously pay for it.

Weird space for sure amongst thousands of weird spaces.

I wonder if people had been stopping into skiology ski shop and asking about their weather predictions or why are they so douchy online :ROFLMAO:

Maybe the shop will tell those people that they shouldn't ski the two feet at Killington that day and to come back when there's only 6" and the skiing is better.

Didn't he have some ridiculous take like that at one point?

Numerous times he mentioned how he enjoys boarding on sleet . And more than 8 inches of new snow just makes for more work

It's pretty mind boggling for sure. It would be similar to AZ asking people to subscribe here. The only service the forum truly provides is boredom relief. Haha. And that's every member providing the service, not just Nick or the moderators.

I have no idea what Nick's cost outlay is for web hosting and software license fees for AZ and whether the ads cover those costs and still turns a small profit. It did at one point. But Matt's costs are literally zero. So what are people paying to support?

i also love the steady flow of whine about facebook suppressing his posts and such. I'm no staunch defender of facebook's corporate practices, but my guy, you are using a massive publicly traded social media platform. they don't owe you shit. if you think your content and engagement is so amazing then go do it on your own website and drive your audience there. good luck to you.

I believe his argument has been that he "can't provide his time for free" and "needs to attempt make a living". I guess the problem is people are lazy and since he collates all the information in 1 place, people love it. I also wouldn't be one bit surprised if some people don't even realize he has absolutely no professional training or experience with weather forecasting.
