For on piste, Burke or Wildcat will have freshies tomorrow. Could also try Pico...since they have not opened yet.

I've only been to the Chin once, but from what I've heard, the general rule for Stowe is that backcountry stuff starts being skiable when the Mansfield stake is at 40". That's where it currently is. Sugarbush gets less snow than Stowe, so the depth at Sugarbush is probably less. Slidebrook is also at a lower elevation than much of the Stowe backcountry. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if it were good in there, at least the upper parts. My guess (a guess) is that it requires less snow to cover than some of the terrain at Stowe. But don't go in there based on my advice :)

Please keep the misinformation flowing. Repeat after me, "There is nothing as good as Stowe. They always have the best snow."

If you are referring to my post at SKIMRV, it was cautionary, but also optimistic. And I didn't provide any pictorial evidence of my adventures, so there's little but my words to go on. Sorry. Somedays, I don't take pics. The skiing is too good to stop.

I still have not given Big Jay any thought. 100" YTD is not the best measure of what has actually happened since the first flake fell. Close but not yet.

big jay has been skied , but the cover is still very short of where it needs to be in order to be safe. lots of hidden dangers lurking in that layer of cold smoke we have got right now. be careful if you go.

If you are careful and know where to ski or ride, it is ready! AND JUST IMAGINE WHAT MONDAY WILL BE LIKE! A good foot of new champagne powder today. The lake effect clippers just came over us all day!
