Hey All,

I had a fun time skiing at Sno earlier yesterday. I made really good time on the drive up and had enough time for a quick wax at the Bear Creek ski shop before my 10:00AM meeting with Melissa in the parking lot by the Northface. The temperature was 28 degrees under partly sunny skys and then there was some tapping at my window and it was Melissa. We booted up and then skated over to the lodge where I bought my ticket. I went into the lodge to use the facilities and I saw Chippy and Eugene taking a break.

Melissa and I skated over to the Iron Horse lift and did a few warm-ups on Whistler. I was pleasently surprised by her skiing ability. I was expected a newbie since she's only been skiing for about a month after a 7 year break from skiing but she's a solid intermediate with a desire for speed. We then hit up the Northface and made some laps on Cannnonball..then Boomer..then one run she skied Boomer and waited for me at the bottom of White Lightning and watched me ski White Lightning. White Lightning had nice styrofoamy manmade and smallish bumps..very good...and the rest of the runs had nice groomed snow that was very edgeable..After some Northface laps we went back to the Iron Horse. From the lift we saw Chippy, Eugene, and Ski making laps through Nastar on Switch. Melissa wanted to try Nastar but first we skied a run down Whistler so I could show her how to tuck properly...Hands forward...get low..ass up...Is that a hip Hop song???? Then onto Nastar...we waited for a few minutes after filling out the paperwork and we were joined by Chipster, You-gene, and Ski..My first run I had 39 seconds for a Bronze and I think a 33 handicap..Eugenes best was 38 seconds for a silver I think and Chippy was somewhere in the low 40s. Melissa ran the course in 47 seconds or so which was mad steezy for her first attempt at Nastar. We both had slower times for our second runs but I still got another bronze. Then down the green park trail for some lunch.

I rocked some Chili and a hotdog..and M-train hit up some chicken fingers and was able to score some honey mustard sauce after a frantic search. Then back on the slopes for some more Northface action. By this point Cannonball and Smoke were pretty skied off and bumpier..and one Yahoo almost killed a little kid jumping one of the headwalls. Then back to the Iron Horse and a few more on Whistler and then one last run down the green next to the park and by this time it was beer-thirty. We saw X-nick heading up to the park..then proceeded to drink 22 ounce beers in one of the steeziest bars in ski country..wow Sno has a great bar and there was live music as well. All in all a really fun day at the mountain formerly known as Montage..Holla

The warning sign at the top of Smoke is one of the funniest things that I have ever seen in all my years in skidom:

All that is missing is flashing lights and a blaring siren:lol::lol:

Seriously, glad you had fun. Did they get Fast Track opened yet? This part of the mountain was semi abandoned when we where there in January of 2007.

It's nice to have a ski area with a Jonny Rockets nearby where you can get a good bite to eat and watch the skiing at the same time.

The side with Fast Tracks is not open yet. I had a great time but Sno is still getting their Sh*T together. Once they have a top to bottom high speed quad and more snowmaking capacity..things will be sa weet at Sno..it's only an hour from me and I have lots of friends with passes there. It's tough to beat zero liftlines on a Saturday in January..

So how hard is the trail? The Rumor at Gore has a big warning sign about falling leading to death, or something like that. It's been a while since I've seen it. Of course there is the MRG Paradise sign:

Killington has warning signs at the top of all their double diamonds, IIRC.

We where originally looking to relocate our business to P.A as my sister lives in Milford and wanted the rest of the family to be close to her. Finding commercial space in North Eastern Pennslyvania is not easy and for me it meant moving further away from New England skiing, so we settled in Northern Connecticut.

While looking for a commercial space/houses in January 2006, we skied at Blue Mountain, Montage and Camelback.

It's not the fact that the lower trails are steep, they are for P.A, it's just that the upper mountain has the same gradient as say Snowshed at Killington. A beginner skier could get into serious trouble skiing the lower part of Sno Mountain, hence the warning signs.
